[Question]Gears of War & Xbox 360

I think the problem that would come to downloading something while you play is the lag. I don't know if the service has any kind of bandwidth alocation, but I'm pretty sure it does.

Downloading (from the Xbox Live Marketplace) is automatically paused whenever you go to play multiplayer (online) and resumes when you exit multiplayer.

Ah, i'm planning to download and play singleplayer, not multiplayer.

Then you should be fine. Your download will proceed in the background and you will be prompted when your download is complete. :D

You learn something new every day. :D

I believe in Gears of War when the game loads it will pause your download even if you're play single player.

It happened to me when i tried to get the Lost Planet MP demo.

alot of games will say the download is paused when u start them but i think thats them checking for updates after that it will resume the download assuming u are just playing singleplayer

Yeah i thought that but when i go to restart the download it won't let you. It just greys out the option.

Coop play online is a blast. Seems like whenever I play deathmatch I get slaughtered and everyone talks **** to me about how much I suck (my team...the other team).

I've met some nice people playing coop that I've played through the entire game with on hardcore. About to attempt insane next weekend with this chap.

i can't beat the game on hardcore in single player, but coop is easy enough (because you can revive each other). You get the achievements unlocked just the same.

Coop via System Link works well too. Played with my brother over the holiday. BTW: the xbox live headset works over system link just in case you are wondering.

Split screen coop works alright. I definitely don't prefer it. Can't see enough. I would prefer the split screen to be vertical instead of horizontal, as the horizontal split makes the AR for your screen too high. I am glad they included it, all the same.

Gears is why I got xbox live. Before Gears, it wasn't necessary.

Tag on question: if you host a game, is your 360 acting as a server or is it running on an xbox live server out in cyberspace somewhere? I've noticed that when I join a coop game most of the time the lag isn't noticeable at all. Whenever I host a coop game, sometimes players that join seem "jumpy." Has anyone else noticed this? Would there be any difference in lag if one person hosts the game over the other person?

You're hosting. The Xbox Live servers are just delegating all the traffic between you and your friends.

Both Saint's Row and GoW stopped my downloads as soon as the game hits the main menu screen.

Yea, unfortunately, some games are constantly Xbox Live "Aware" even if you're not playing multiplayer, so your downloads will pause regardless.

oui, sorry to bump this thread but when you buy a wireless controller ( bundle packacge? ) do you have to buy rechargable batteries or do they have one inside just like the IPod?

You can get the play and charge kit which is a rechargeable battery otherwise it's standard batteries.

yes and it works great, plugs to the front of the controller, recharges as you play and saves on polluting batteries. get it.

however, the controllers come with batts so your good to go outta the box. don't last very long tho...

Xbox 360™ Quick Charge Kit, is that it? :|

He was talking about the Play & Charge kit which allows you to plug the controller into the Xbox 360 while playing to charge the included rechargable battery.

The Quick Charge Kit is meant as a stand-alone battery recharger and as long as your batteries are in there recharging, you won't be able to use your wireless controllers (unless you use a couple of AA batteries in the mean time).

So, if you only have 1 or 2 wireless controllers then I'd also recommend the Play & Charge Kit. If you have like 4 controllers and you use them frequently, then the Quick Charge Kit is something you may want to look into.

This is the Play & Charge Kit:

The play and charge kit plugs from the Xbox 360 USB Port to your Wireless Controller and allows you to play (even without the battery in the controller, but that is not recommended) with the wireless controller. What it is meant to do is recharge your battery even while you play and once it's done recharging your battery (the charging LED will turn Green to let you know it's done) you can disconnect the cable and continue playing wirelessly.

Hope that clears it up. :)
