Promotional Copy?

Recommended Posts

Hello there guys! :)

Recently a friend of mine got me a "Promotional Copy" of Table Tennis for the 360. The game looks pretty nice, but I would like to know is there is any difference between the "promotional copy" and the ones that we see regularly in stores for sell. And is it legal to have a "promotional copy"?

Its legal, they sell on Ebay often. Its a full copy the/a store will have on display usually in those demo units. It should be the full game--the reason they label them promotional copies is so you and/or the cannot sell them as retail. Makes sense when the store gets them "free".

People selling them on Ebay is illegal though I think.

hmm. Is your friend working at any electronic store? if so, maybe it is demo game.

Well he organizes lans. He got this Table Tennis (and others) from a sponsor if I'm not wrong. I've already ran the game and it doesn't look like a demo. I even finished a tournament, unlocked some costumes and made some achievements.

I guess that isn't possible on a demo. :p

But is it the same version that they sell on stores? Or is it like a beta or something?

100% Sure it is, as I said its for demo units in the store usually and they brand them promotional so they cannot be sold as retail for a retail price.

Yep it is a legit copy and it is OK to own it - as long as you don't sell it on.

My wife works for the local papers and has had quite a few of these in now, sadly i'm the only one they know with a 360 so they've had to sit on my shelf. Bit unfortunate that.

The only difference between these review copies and store copies is that they have promotional slapped all over the case and the disk and often won't come with a manual (although how you are supposedly able to accurately review a game if you don't know how to play it is beyond me!)

Of course if you are a bit anal about these things like me you can often download hi-res covers off various internet sites - No-one will ever know the difference! :D
