Spartan_X
Xbox Live Security A recent security change to the Xbox Live service may have impacted users online purchase experience. Currently the video marketplace service and related content is only available to consumers in the United States. Although we will continue to work on providing content and rolling out the service in other markets, US Marketplace offers will be restricted to the US only. This means that the credit card associated with your account is required to match the billing address and country your account is set up in. Note that we are not banning any of these Xbox Live accounts, as they can continue to use pre-paid subscription cards and Microsoft Points cards. Customers wanting to check the billing information on their account can do this on their console or by signing into Xbox.com with your account and then go to MY XBOX-> MY PROFILE then to BILLING AND CONTACT INFORMATION. We also realize that there may be a small number of international users that were impacted by this change that have a legitimate reason for why their billing location does not match their account location. We are working to deal with these exceptions on a case by case basis and are working on a solution for these consumers. Spartan_X
Erm, I plan to get a 360 and use a 12 month LIVE code, what if there's no Credit Card on file? nothing because that's just your XBL membership, but if you try to buy something from the VMP you'll need to provide a credit card with a valid US address even if you're planning to pay with a prepaid MSP card. the CC is used to verify that you account is from a real US adress.

neoadorable
hey Spartan, how about some globalisation already? you know this isn't helping anyone win the international markets!
Spookie
hey Spartan, how about some globalisation already? you know this isn't helping anyone win the international markets! The licencees may be diffrent outside the US. Can't really help that. At least we know when it hits the UK it will work. :p

Really? Is that what they are implementing now or that's how it's always been?? I was planning on getting a card this week with some points to possibly by some of the arcade games and maybe even a few TV shows or some other video (i love HD!) I thought the point of the "points" was so you don't need a credit card to buy stuff, kid doesn't need mom's credit card on file and therefore running it up. She buys him/her $20 worth of points and when that's done no more.I understand they gotta meet copyright protection requisites but i thougth that new "based on your IP" thing was the solution for that. Spartan_X
hey Spartan, how about some globalisation already? you know this isn't helping anyone win the international markets! the problem here is the movie studios, they're the ones limiting where and when we can make content available to our customers. so, that's the reason why this is not a global launch ATM... What? Really? Is that what they are implementing now or that's how it's always been?? QuietStorm21A
Shotta35 makes a good point on the credit card issue, i also thought the resolution to this problem was based on ip addresse and their origin, the credit card issue may cause a few more problems for people unless the can figure something else out. And once they get everything working fine the video marketplace is gonna be great i already download a couple of shows and movies! And to go a bit of topic i wanted to know if any body tried changing their hard drive with a bigger 2.5 sata hard drive cause i am gonna try this weekend, and i read somewhere all you need is imaging software to image the current hard drive to the new one, any opinions on this ? +vlsi0n Subscriber¹ Posted November 29, 2006 Subscriber¹ Share Posted November 29, 2006 Tons of things require a vaild CC on file, it's common and the age of whining over that has passed. You can get a CC (or a similar functioning card) at your bank in the US if you're only 15!
neoadorable
spartan, this doesn't just apply to video tho, right? i'm talking about making everything that CAN be global, INDEED global. only then can we give Kutaragi the java-jolted wake up call he needs. having localised versions of XBL with diff content just won't cut it.
