Dashboard Update (aka the 1080p fix)

Recommended Posts

The next time you sign into Xbox Live, you?ll be prompted for a dashboard update. The update contains:

  • Improved support for HD video output over VGA, including 1080p resolution
  • Improved plug and play performance for wired headsets when being used with wireless controllers
  • Changes made to recently played games list to improve accuracy

This update is being rolled out across the world, so you may not get it exactly at this moment, so be patient.

I told you we'd fix i;);)

commentOooooh so that's why i was prompted this morning. I was like, ooh.. what's this? Jumped online and found this lil gem.i>

good to see the MS stays on top of things...thats really the reason i got my x360 is the reliability for MS to fix/patch things....now if only game devlopers were as quick as them :shifty:

Updated :D ...seems like that small bootup thing that happened after my last update is gone too...It's booting a lot quicker for me

System is now alot slower for me for some reason , was quick on the previous update but this new one has made it sluggish again :(

Im still getting the delay when booting up, the lights are about 3-4 seconds out of sync with the video output, at least its not a black screen till the lights have finished before my xbox booted up like before the update.

I have really mixed feeling on the subject.

On one hand, I would appreciate it if consoles and games were made right from the release date. Consoles and console games shouldn't need patches because there is a target hardware that the developers should no very well. PC gaming on the other hand has problems because there is a plethora of hardware combinations and bugs will come out of it. The fact that patches and fixes are even an option on this generation of consoles bothers me because it gives developers the idea that they can release something that is buggy and just patch it through xbox live. I don't like that one bit. But I haven't run into this problem, yet, and at this point it is pure speculation.

At the same time, I appreciate added features and the idea that they can always be improving on the console software to make a much more enjoyable experience for me. It give them a chance to implement stuff that they weren't even thinking of at or before the launch date.

Is the headset support better now? I guess I'll just have to try it out and see. A lot of people are very hard to understand on GoW. I wonder if it is just their voice or if it was a hardware problem.
