Halo 3 Television Advertisment

Recommended Posts

The image below isn't from Halo 3 gameplay folks, it's from the upcoming TV ad - scheduled to run this Monday, 4th of December, during Monday Night Football on ESPN. The CG was created by Hollywood FX house, Digital Domain, using assets supplied by Bungie. We're very excited about the way they've managed to capture the Chief and other elements and clues from the Halo universe. What are those? You'll have to tune in to find out.

NOTICE, THE ADVERTISMENT IS 100% PRERENDERED CGI, NOT INGAME AND BUNGIE HAVE STATED THIS MULTIPLE TIMES.

You know I've been backing off halo for a while, but lets all face it.... We are gonna finish the fight and we are going to enjoy doing so. Master chief is one badass character and its cool to see hes returning for the final game. While First person shooters aren't for everyone and are a dime a dozen, Halo is one solid first person shooter and If its anything like halo1 or 2 it should be a good time.

Bungie were tired of people arguing about whether there trailers were in game or not, so they decided to make something that everyone would defiantly know is not ingame.

It think its pretty incredible... CGI always is.

Would be a nice surprise considering the latest shots look like ass.

You think the xbox360 could do that? Some people just expect waaay too much, IMO.

Assets..from the actual game.

I think what they mean is that they gave them the material to recreate in CGI the stuff from the game. It's using their assets, but in CGI form. Bungie has stated that it's all CGI.

Argh. Pre-alpha! Get it through your frackin' heads! Textures, models,...everything! It's not even close to done!

I was joking about the surprise. It'd be amazing, but there's no way the 360 (or any next gen console) could pull that off.

Ooh gotcha. Got a bit confused for a second.

Now don?t get me wrong ? just because this ad isn?t gameplay doesn?t mean it?s not really cool. In fact, we provided the folks at Digital Domain with all of our new in-game models and assets. They then polished them up to movie CGI standards, animated them and rendered them to a degree of stunning beauty. There will be a lot to like in this ad and we?re happy with how it?s turning out. Just because you?re seeing a kind of ?real-life? representation of Halo 3 doesn?t mean you aren?t seeing real gameplay elements from Halo 3.lements from Halo 3.

Yea, basically they are saying that Digital Domain didn't have to go and re-create their own Master Chief model and other "gameplay elements" models that will be found in Halo 3. This is to ensure that it looks in line/on par with the Halo universe but with the added benefit of CGI (aka flawless rendering, lighting, animations, etc etc).
