who knows, they probably did make it. The yahoo new post i saw said Microsoft "won" the holiday with 2 Million in sales. The Wii probably could have won if they had more in stock (they had 1.8 million sales) and the maybe even the PS3 (they had 750K) so who knows if they haven't already broken the 10 mill and they are just waiting for CES or some other big show to announce the numbers.

Most likely they either came very close to 10 million or slightly short. Remember NPD doesn't include Walmart sales (which are a HUGE source of sales in the U.S. and Canada).

whats the name of the fox thing in viva Pi?ata?

Preztail (or something close to that).

NPD estimates sales from stores that they can't get data from, so thereshouldn't> be a huge difference between their numbers and the actual amount of consoles sold.

10 million SOLD

Microsoft Crosses 10 million Xbox 360s Sold, Announces Xbox 360 Can Be IPTV Set-Top

Dean Takahashi, 06:30 PM in Dean Takahashi, Gaming

Bill Gates and Robbie Bach are expected to announce at the Consumer Electronics Show that Microsoft has sold more than 10.4 million Xbox 360s since the launch in November, 2005. That means Microsoft has also hit its targets for sales of consoles during the holidays.

Microsoft is also dropping something of a bomb at the show. Jim Brady, a spokesman for Microsoft, said Gates and Bach will say in the keynote speech Sunday night at the Venetian Hotel that the Xbox 360 will be able to serve as a set-top box for IPTV, or Internet protocol television. The details on this announcement are sketchy and Brady says only that it will appear later this year.

Microsoft shipped 10.4 million. They classify shipped as sold though, like Sony does. But they did reach their goal.

I thought that sony = shipped/sold and microsoft = sold/sold :?

But Next Gen War (the counter) is a bit off or hasn't updated the numbers yet.

It would be cool if this is some kind of arrangement with Direct TV.

The TV Provider pays for bulk of the XBox 360 price when you order a settop box. :woot: :woot: :woot:

No, but Microsoft counts sold as shipped from distribution warehouse and Sony counts it as shipped from factory (says Robbie Bach). Neither are solely sold to consumer though.

"This holiday, we expect to have sold in excess of 10 million units worldwide and an expected catalog of 160 high-definition games," a Microsoft spokeswoman said.

That "sold" number refers to units "sold into retail" and refers to units in transit, units sitting in store inventories and machines sold to consumers, the spokeswoman said.

But Next Gen War (the counter) is a bit off or hasn't updated the numbers yet.

These type of sites aren't too reliable. They tend to use algorithms and guess work.

True:

emember, these numbers are only estimates, but they are constantly monitored and updated to assure the closest estimates possible for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Wii.

I say yes because Sony doesn't look like provide PS3 any time soon.

I'm thinkin perhaps the poll should be closed and/or the thread title updated :p (It's an '06 poll buddy :D)
