ynnoj
I recently purchased a 19" LCD set to accompany my 360 in my room. The set is a Samsung LE19R71B which is "HD ready". The set has DVI, VGA, scart, composite and S-video inputs. My query is which connection should I use to get the best quality for my 360 from my TV? Do any of those connections even support HD resolutions? Are there any DVI cables available for the 360? Thanks.
DarkGashX
VGA is the best apparently, I will be using VGA with my 24" monitor. But VGA in the UK doesn't allow you to play original 50Hz Xbox Games.
ynnoj
Even better than component? Looks like I need to buy myself a VGA cable then.

VazaGothic
VGA ?? I'd say DVI since it's digital and not so susceptible to errors (as VGA connection is) - that's the case with normal monitors. I have a 24'' LCD monitor hooked up through DVI - and I had it hooked up through VGA as well - there's a HUGE difference in picture quality between those two. VGA looks blurry and the color saturation is worse.

ynnoj
Vaza: How exactly did you hook your 360 up via DVI? As far as I'm aware, there are no DVI cables available for the 360.. yet.

I would say VGA to DVI connector, all connectors / convertors do not look as good in my opinion.
ynnoj
An adapter such as this? How would the quality be affected after converting? Would I see a notable gain?
DarkGashX
An adapter such as this? How would the quality be affected after converting? Would I see a notable gain? You can get single unit ones, but yes something like that. I don't think you will see any difference, it may even be worse, I hate to convert stuff. But that is me. .KICK
I play mine through a VGA -> DVI converter, I thought there wasnt much different because it is output at VGA quality and therefore DVI isn't achieved despite the monitor being hooked up via DVI? I think you should only use converters if it's all you have. For instance, the VGA cable but only DVI input. I don't seriously think you will see any difference and as I said it may even look worse. DarkGashX
It we are talking native Xbox 360 Connections VGA>Other Xbox 360 Natives. Just get a VGA cable and your sorted. Don't waste your money on converters.
Sigurd
For some reason VGA on my tv looks horrible, the colors are really washed out, Component is alot better on my tv :-/ On my grandads tv he only has a dvi input so i used a VGA to DVI and the picture on his tv looked better than just VGA on mine, neither were better than my component though. Weird..
DarkGashX
It's different for everyone and every TV/Monitor, but the majority will tell you VGA is better, the only thing you can really do then is to test component on your TV. If it sucks try VGA. EDIT: Forgot to mention that is what I'll be doing.
Huleboeren
I have my x360 hooked up through component - but Im thinking of buying a VGA cable. But the VGA input on the TV is already hooked up to my computer :o What do I do? Can I get a DVI-to-Component (for the computer) ?

Brandon Live Veteran Posted December 3, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 3, 2006 DVI > VGA > Component > S-Video > Composite > RF ModulatedEnd of story  That's a lot of converters! ;) There is no native DVI cable for th 360 right now - so VGA is your best bet. Converters are BAD. If your set supports VGA, that's the best picture you'll get. As the guy I quoted said, Component is your next best bet.
