TokyoKiller
So I bought an Xbox 360 last saturday, it was a good deal and thats why I bought it (had to borrow money though from a friend heh...some not much) anyways so I've been playing for a week on it on my 21" SD TV which REALLY sucks. Today I went to my friends place who has a 52" Samsung Plasma HDTV and my jaws dropped immediately after I saw the difference between my TV and his TV with my Xbox 360...and now I want an HDTV but in reality I can't afford one (I am 17 and work part-time), and my mom doesn't understand the point of HDTV and she doesnt even know what it is...I try to explain it but she's sort of like those people who hate technology ALOT. Now I am thinking of saving up for one of these babies: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/product...mp;sku=320-5123 And buying a VGA cable for the Xbox 360 and hooking it up... My question is, is the quality the same on a monitor as it is on an HDTV? I plan to play on 720P. If anyone who has used both can throw in their input I would greatly appreciate it. User6060
Well the gaming experience on a 52" will obviously be better than on a 20" ;) Also that monitor is 16:10 and widescreen is 16:9, iunno how much a difference that will make or if the x360 can scale properly other than that i should think the quality would be pretty good. Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted December 4, 2006 Global Moderator Share Posted December 4, 2006 i was left with the same problem. I got the xbox360 on November 22nd, 2005, when i had my old 32" tube television.. oh god how crappy the game play was compared to my friends HDTV. I played on a 54" HDTV DLP (still do at my friends) and i was blown away! so i went out and picked myself up a 37" LG HDTV, and GOD i love it! best purchase ALL YEAR! 360 and rogers HDTV are truely amazing.. worth every single penny, and more!! aleni
got a samsung 40inch LCD tv in my living room. but i dont put my 360 in the living room since my dad often watch tv there. but i have tried hooked my 360 once on it, it looked incredible! for daily use, i use my 360 on my LCD 19inch with 1280x1024 not widescreen with 360's VGA cable. well it looks good as well. maybe 80% of the LCDTV. and it's a good thing you save up for the widescreen version since some of 360 games like GoW prefer widescreen mode. TokyoKiller
Yeah that's the reason I am looking at a 20"+ since most the monitors below are too small and are not WS. I personally love widescreen since I have a laptop :p. I mean I watch my TV shows on my laptop and I can't stand watching those same episodes on my regular TV! Heh, so the crowd says it a good idea :p?

Sedriss
I understand your issues my man. When I bought my 360 (little over a week ago) i was like... damn i need a good tv to view this thing on. Soooo it was sweet that the local Microcenter was having a sale on HDTV's. Was able to pick up a 42-inch LCDTV for $799.99. Save up that cash man and go for like a 26 inch or = to.

Coming from a guy who has both 57" HDTV and a 20.1 Dell LCD with 1680x1050, 16:10...they both look awesome you won't notice the stretching at all, as it is very minimal. It looks great! But......if you can somehow get the 2407 instead, I would save up money for that, as you can run 1080p rather than 720p Either way though, both look great, although I do love my HDTV more

Yusuf M. Veteran Posted December 4, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 4, 2006 I have an Xbox 360 with a 27" TV. I'm currently saving up to buy an LG 20.1" Widescreen LCD monitor with a VGA HD cable. It's my only alternative right now. Darn HDTVs are so expensive. :(

Yusuf M. Veteran Posted December 4, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 4, 2006 ^ Nice. I know exactly what you mean. I played Gears of War at my friends house on his 53" HDTV and I could barely keep my eyes on the enemy. They were either to spaced apart or too close up. Since I'm used to PC gaming, there shouldn't be any issue. My only concern is splitscreen on a 20.1" screen.

Yusuf M. Veteran Posted December 4, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 4, 2006 ^ I don't see any images. Head over to imageshack.us to upload the images. EDIT: Now I see one image. :p Can you take some images of the LCD monitor as well. And maybe even images of a different game, that is if you have more than 1 game. NFS: Most Wanted is nice, but it's kinda old. NFS: Carbon is already out.

ienhz
No kidding. I had to move my 360 up to my 27" tube cause it's honestly just too cold to play downstairs (I'm in Canada) with my 42" widescreen and surround sound. Suffice to say, the experience just realy doesn't compare to playing on an HDTV. I couldn't believe how bad Saint's Row and Rainbow Six Vegas looked on 480p. Surprisingly, Gears of War still looks great on it... I don't thikn that game could ever look bad lol.
AMDMEFX-55
Ok I only have a few games. I let my friend use Fight night round 3, Dead Or Alive 4,Gers Of War and BF 2.
