1080p, 360, Bravia

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I just got my 46" Bravia and I was wondering, when will the 1080p for the Bravia's be fixed? I read up on a few blog posts about it being crippled for Sony Bravia's and I was just wondering when and if it will be fixed? I tried both VGA and component and got the symptons everyone has described.

Cheers :D

I thought that the bravia tv's only supported 1080p signals via HDMI? Thats how I understood it when I was looking at them on the Sony site anyway. Maybe it was badly worded.

What does it say in the tv manual about 1080p support on which connections?

It isn't too clear in the manual. From what I can see, the max supported by VGA is 720p. Man, I suck at this stuff lol, if anyone has an insite regarding this TV, etc, please do say.

Lol, damn I thought you were going to know all the info about them. In terms of the bravia X range tv's on the sony site they say: The new HD Ready X series LCD has 1920x1080 resolution with 1080p signal capability via HDMI, Live Colour Creation and BRAVIA ENGINE EX for high performance picture quality.

If the "1080p signal capability via HDMI" comment means exclusively over HDMI i'm not too sure either.

Anyone else know?

According to the user manual, only the following are supported over component:

1080i, 720p, 576p, 576i, 480p, 480i

About the VGA connection, I guess it should be able to display at max resolution, which is 1920x1080 (i.e. 1080p), but don't quote me on that because I'm probably as knowledgable about it as you are.

Hahaha, I bet Sony made their TV only accept 1080p over HDMI just so that x360 owners get the shaft :p

Alls fair in war though...as long as you win the war.

Too bad Microsoft will probably make an HDMI cable.

I hope you didn't pay ?2800 for that TV because there are far better TV's for much cheaper,

TV 1 - http://www.gottatoshiba.com/catalog/lcdplasma/regza/47WLT66

TV 2 - http://www.gottatoshiba.com/catalog/lcdplasma/regza/42WLT66

Both are excellent TV's and far cheaper than Sony and does 1080p via Component/VGA/HDMI iirc

My mate has one and it is superb.

Upto you, enjoy the TV, shame it dosent do 1080p via Component

I paid ?2000 for mine, found a great supplier. Mine does 1080p, even though if it is crippled and only at HDMI where only my PS3 could use lol.

I feel that you have paid far too much for something that dosent produce the goods, only does 1080p via HDMI is poor.

?400 quid cheaper (?1630) and does 1080p via all connections , HDMI/Component and VGA and does 100Hz iirc.

Upto you, I just feel Sony's TV do not offer value or performance for the money you pay
