Ah, interesting. I shall set the signal to 720p then. Thanks for all the advice. I am personally pleased with the quality ofthe image, so there are no worries there :)

No problem. Sorry for crapping on your thread, I wasn't trying to say your BRAVIA isn't any good (it is!) just explaining that the latest Toshibas are far from being "inferior" as jerzdawg puts it, despite them "only" having half the contrast ratio. (as I said, specs are almost meaningless these days)

Unfortunately I must have changed some settings on my camera without realising, and most of the pictures I took came out dark or blurred, but here's some more shots of Gears in action on my 37WLT68. These were the best ones, but most still have moir? on them from not getting the focus right. (vertical banding / grainy look)

I could have probably fixed them up a bit in Photoshop, but I didn't want to do any editing. Other than a resize, they're straight out of the camera.

Unfortunately the moir? gives the impression of more aliasing / shows it up more, but I spent quite a while taking them, so I felt I should just post them anyway. If you let imageshack shrink them down, it's probably a lot more representative of how it really looks.

Note: Possible (minor imo) spoilers.

Writing 1080i on the box doesn't mean that it's running at that resolution natively, just that it supports it.

Basis for that statement? If it didn't natively run at 1080i, then why would they bother writing it on the box? They didn't bother with PGR3, though obviously the Xbox 360 upscales to 1080i if you're running at it.
