I had the dreaded ring of red lights on my first Xbox 360. I got the launch day one, the ones that were given away during that huge Every 10 Minutes promotion thru Pepsi. Didn't want to pay the $130 to get it fix or whatever, got it replaced for free thanks to M$ doing the 1 yr warranty on the earlier consoles.

I got mine at launch, and in July it began freezing when turned on with crazy pixelation all over the screen. It eventually led to red rings of light. I sent it to Microsoft and they repaired it (although I would have much rather they replaced it). It's been working fine ever since though

I've actually got an XBox 360upstairs in my parents bedroom, I can't have it until Christmas, damnit!

Hope it's going to be okay, this poll is reassuring.

Richard.

I'm on my third 360. The first one's disc drive went bad and the second still worked when I returned it, but it would freeze too much for my liking - usually a few times a day. I've had this one since March and it rarely ever freezes.

My only problem is a weird one: Whenever I start a private chat for the first time after turning the console on, I get disconnected from Live. It doesn't matter if I've been on Live for 5 hours. Once I accept a chat I get disconnected, but after that first chat (and disconnection) my connection is pretty much perfect until the next time I turn the system off.

since i made the thread, i'll put my input in too.

i had a red ring of light issue.. then i fixed the thing using the towel method. A few days later, Microsoft announced free repairs for all consoles before January 1st, 2006. A few weeks later, playing Saints Row.. i Boot up as normal, load saints row, change my cloths, and i go open the garage, and it froze (after i got the dreaded red ring of light). i called Microsoft, got it shipped and returned in under 5 business days, and not a single problem since.. not even a freeze.

I sent mine back to Microsoft, it was freezing in games. They sent back a brand new one in 2 days, I was impressed. Since then it's been perfect :D.

Mine gave out after about 11 months of perfectness. Red ring of light after I hit "Play Zuma demo!".

Well I sure as hell deleted that game after I got my new 360. I did it through EBGames though to save me time and effort. They just open a new box, and hand me the new system without a hard drive.

argh ... my launch 360 just quit on me this friday past. took it back to futureshop, where it can take up to 1-4 weeks depending on whether or not they can fix it (that means no gaming - what ever am i going to do?!). at the moment, i'm deciding if i should go out and get another just to pass the time ;)

Forgive my ignorance but, what is the towel method ?

when your xbox360 overheats, it's caused by moisture inside your system's CPU building up (microsofts or manufactures fault), and basically to get rid of the moisture, you need to overheat your xbox360 manually. you can do this with a hot air gun (be careful to cover the sodering points) or if you don't want to void the warrenty, you just wrap it inside a towel, turn your system on for 20-30 min, blocking all the vents for heating, let it cook, and then let it cool down for a few hours.

give her a test try, and it should work.

Absolutely perfect, 11/10. I'm even going to brag about my HDD size... its 120gb, not that crappy 20gb :)

im guessing you modded your 360.. thats a nice HDD size.. can you still play online with that?

He's full of ****, their is not one single mod for an xbox360, dont belive a word he trieds to tell you. The only thing you can do as of now is change the firmware on the dvd-rom so it lets you played games that are supposedly your own backups.

He may be thinking of the orginal xbox, which yeah you can do just about anything with, but not the 360.

ok so far its

34 + 80 + 3 = 117 people with a 360

117/100 = 1.17 X 34 = 39% MS Repair rate.

That is pretty shocking for a console - And all the posts above saying people have had to send them back. I understand if its a launch model tho

**** that sounds crazy. I don't doubt that that works but I would never do that unless it was a last resort

Had my 360 since launch last year.

It's locked up on me once back in January when I accessed the Guide waiting for PGR3 to load. I think that was a software problem though. It's been fine ever since :)

Got mine on the UK launch last year (Dec 10) and it had been perfect. Then the update to fix (bloody bastards) Sony TV's broke it. Been 3 days so far, waiting for delivery of a new one.

*knows its not Sony's fault, just was annoyed that the fix for me was uneccessary but still had to do it. MS grumlbe.*
