Roger H. Veteran Posted December 7, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 7, 2006 sounds good to me and i don't see a problem with that happening at all. The X360 should definitely sell that many in my book. Even if they are only estimates, i'm sure they have about 2 million consoles out there waiting to be picked up during the christmas selling season. spenser.d
What is a NPD estimate? The NPD Group, founded in 1967, is the leading global provider of consumer and retail market research information for a wide range of industries. We provide critical consumer behavior and point-of-sale (POS) information and industry expertise across more industries than any other market research company. http://npd.com/ They're pretty renowned for giving out good estimates for these kinds of things. -Spenser

spenser.d
But I thought NPD only gave out estimates for US sales? Well the US is the biggest market out of all of them for MS, so it's a pretty good indicator of how well they're doing. -Spenser
gigapixels Veteran Posted December 8, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 8, 2006 But really I would think so too since, PS3 is nowhere to be found and comparing Wii vs. 360 of course 360 win. I was planning to buy ps3 but I couldn't find for anywhere around 600 miles I live. I just see stocks and stocks of 360 and not even 1 Wii or ps3, even the demo workstation were having a problem while Wii didn't had any control and ps3 kept freezing (this is 4 day old circuit city I was talking about.) We (Circuit City) don't and won't have a Wii demo in any stores, as it would be incredibly hard to prevent theft of the controllers. I don't know what you're talking about  And, honestly, do you expect the PS3 to not freeze? /me runs from Sony fanboys

November 2006 (NPD): DS = 918,000 PS2 = 664,000 GBA = 641,000 360 = 511,000 Wii = 476,000 PSP = 412,000 PS3 = 197,000 Source Total Xbox 360 US sales according to NPD is ....... 3.8 million. :/
spenser.d
Total Xbox 360 US sales according to NPD is ....... 3.8 million. :/ So, what happened to the 5 million that MS said were sold by the end of June this year... Considering MS just shipped their 10 millionth unit, I'm guessing there aren't 6 million on store shelves... I know I'm generalizing beyond just the US, but it still applies. -Spenser

MS was talking about the whole NA, so maybe Mexico is bringing up the rear. :p Seriously, I really don't know who to believe, honestly.
Gamerhomie
I think they'll do it. Now when do you guys think they'll sell 50 million or 100 million units, if at all?
Brandon Live Veteran Posted December 8, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 8, 2006 I believe NPD does not represent the total number of units sold in the US. I've read they don't even include retailers like Wal-Mart, for example. For me, the most notable point in their report was actually the fact that Gears of War outsold FF XII by a lot - even though FF XII was out for the entire month and GoW was not, AND the fact that there are like a billion PS2s out there and a relatively small number of 360s.
