sweetham
Since the halo series has been getting a lot of publicity lately (Ghosts of Onyx, Magazine articles, MFN CGI trailer, etc), I thought I would ask what the neowin public thinks about the status of the Halo series. Most already know but halo was originally supposed to be a RTS on the mac but has since evovled into the FPS frachise today on the Xbox, Xbox 360, and PC. I myself dont really mind it being on the pc. I dont really like too much that the pc versions get alot more extras such as map editors, extra weapons, etc. I know that Halo CE was ported over by Gearbox Studios and the such, and not Bungie. I would just like to see some of that make it into Halo series on the Xbox console. There is always hoping with Halo 3 I guess. If it does not make it, I wont shed too many tears. The game will still undoubtedly be good IMO.
acies
I am not bothered, really, it could come out on the Ps3 and wouldn't care too much. So long as I get to play it.
giga Veteran Posted December 6, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 6, 2006 Master Chief pretty much represents the Xbox and everything about it. The 360 wouldn't be here today without the Halo franchise. Should stay exclusive imo--but it's MS.
Hupp
Yes, I think it defines the Xbox as Final Fantasy defines the Playstation.
spenser.d
I think the way they're doing it (wait about 2 years before a PC release) is good, except for the part where GBX botched HPC in more ways than one. Don't get me wrong, they did a pretty good job, but it wasn't near what it should've been for the Halo franchise. I have more hope for H2Vista since it's being made in-house. -Spenser
sweetham
I agree that it pretty much defines the xbox because when most people think xbox they think of Halo right there with it. I myself am personally glad that it evolved into an FPS. I dont think the storyline behind it wouldnt have been as good and wouldnt have been represented as well as its done now. I get alot more immersion out of it than I would an RTS. Dont get me wrong, I love RTS and think Halo Wars will be an interesting addition to the Halo Universe, they just have never drawn me in as well as an FPS does. And that is one thing that I have always loved about halo as it is, the story and the way its presented.

Brandon Live Veteran Posted December 7, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 7, 2006 I played the PC version but never could get into it. It just didn't feel right. The game was made for the Xbox, and that's where it shines.
Mainer82
It is an exclusive when it comes to consoles, it make sense that Halo would go to Windows as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see Halo 3 for the Xbox 360 and Windows released at the same time and be able to play Xbox Live Anywhere with both systems. Wouldn't happen--Halo 3 is the 360's killer app and they need the sales.
sweetham
Aye it is, but as the first two halos have shown, a PC release will most likely happen within a few years after the 360 release.

Ofcourse - like movies - they run in the cinema until they make no more $$$ - then they are released on DVD. Halo 3 would not have been exclusive if MS didnt buy Bungie - such a big titles costs _alot_ of dough to keep exclusive. Like GTA4
