Daniel.
Hey guys, I've been looking on the net for an Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adaptor and everywhere I look the adaptor seems to be about ?55-?60, even on eBay - which is a huge amount for a simple network adaptor. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about where to get it that bit cheaper. Cheers. Daniel
.KICK
I was wondering the same thing, why is it so expensive!! I won't pay ?59.99 for a wireless adapter
PiracyX
I dont understand why is so expensive either! I found Amazon UK do it for ?54.99 so that saving of ?5 or you can buy it new from some person which is selling it around ?53. Still alot of money in my book. I just found this if you are interested in buying one.
spike232
Before you buy be sure and check that your wireless router/access point is on Microsofts compatible list.
saxondale.
I think the only way you're going to get it for less is if you're lucky on ebay or can find it 2nd hand personally.
Meshuggah
dunno if you guys know this, but you can use ANY wireless G usb adaptor on your 360...it doesn't have to be the overpriced Microsoft one :D
Mx
I also thought this, but just in the end just thought **** it and paid the high price. It is so much money for something that just "works" and does the job that a USB version for a PC would do for 30 quid.
WelshBluebird
dunno if you guys know this, but you can use ANY wireless G usb adaptor on your 360...it doesn't have to be the overpriced Microsoft one :D since when? last I read, the 360 only has the drivers for MS's adapter, and so any other USB adapter wouldn't work. Nah, any one that is certified by Microsoft. There is a list on Xbox.com, let me find it.
Meshuggah
since when? last I read, the 360 only has the drivers for MS's adapter, and so any other USB adapter wouldn't work. Since Forever http://hardware.teamxbox.com/reviews/xbox-...ing-Adapter/p1/ this is taken from page two November 29th, 2005The Bottom Line Of course you can use any other existing wireless bridge or even use the built-in Ethernet port found in the Xbox 360, but you won?t be able to enjoy the unique functionality found in Xbox 360 wireless networking adapter. Although you can get wireless bridges for less than $99, there is no way you can get something better than the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter at this point. Unless you don?t care about having a nasty cable reaching the top of your Xbox 360, the Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter is simply a must have. Its performance is on par with any other wireless bridge and its ability to attach to the console while sporting the same look of the system puts the Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter on top of the competition. In my opinion, all the accessories that Microsoft has created for the Xbox 360, even though the wireless controller is outstanding and the VGA cable was definitely demanded by the masses, the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter is the most ground-breaking of all the Xbox 360 peripherals. It is almost impossible to imagine that a third-party manufacturer will create a better design than this adapter and that alone tells you that Microsoft has outperformed our initial expectations with this handy peripheral. If we can think of any downside it could be its relatively high price, and we say relative because when compared to other wireless bridges, the price of the Xbox 360 wireless adapter is on par. The fact that adding $99 to your investment in the Xbox 360, along with a few games, might mean this peripheral is more of a luxury than a necessity. If you don?t have access to a wired connection and want to go wireless, this adapter is hard to beat. If budget is not a concern, then you definitely consider investing in the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter.

planetik
dunno if you guys know this, but you can use ANY wireless G usb adaptor on your 360...it doesn't have to be the overpriced Microsoft one :D I don't know which one you purchased but "any" usb adaptor won't work. The drivers just aren't there in the xbox. Besides, why would microsoft allow you to use a cheaper, non-microsoft branded product when they can cash in to you buying the $100 one? Any ETHERNET based products (such as the older wireless-G adapter for the old xbox), or the linksys xbox/ps2 wireless game adaptors (WGA versions) will work. If you want to go really cheap (11Mbps... not great for downloading demos and such), you can buy the Logitech Playlink. Another alternative people used was flashing their Linksys WRT54GL router (Linux version) so that it can be used as a bridge. Too bad Linksys discontinued it. WelshBluebird
Since Forever http://hardware.teamxbox.com/reviews/xbox-...ing-Adapter/p1/ this is taken from page two thats on about wireless bridges though. A Usb adapter and a wireless bridge is totally different. The wireless bridge plugs into the Ethernet port, and to the 360, it looks like a wired connection, and so needs no drivers. With a USB adapter, as with using one on a PC, it needs drivers, so unless the 360 has drivers for them in its OS, then the adapters won't work. @ Mx? - I see no mention of USB adapters, only routers, gateways and access points (which plug into your modem, PC or router to send the wireless signal to your devices) and an Ethernet bridge (which I explained above)
Smigit
since when? last I read, the 360 only has the drivers for MS's adapter, and so any other USB adapter wouldn't work. Try a "wireless bridge" or often labelled a "gaming adapter" or something like that. Linksys, netgear and quite a few companies have them. they are completly driverless, you plug them into the PC to set them up and from there connect them to the Xbox, presumably via the ethernet port. It should save you a USB port too. and yes its a bridge not a wireless adapter but surely it will accomplish the exact same thing depending on the setup? Jordan Green
Yeah i dont know how come there so much either but i got mine with the Xbox i bought off ebay for ?276 so it was a great deal.
slysy
If you definately want the official one, GAME have sent out vouchers to loyalty card holders for ?15 off the 360 wireless adapter making it ?45 (if you can get hold of one of these). I personally use a wireless ethernet bridge instead because it works with anything with an ethernet port instead of just the xbox 360.
