Multi-platform games suck on 360?

Recommended Posts

So today I was checking out some of the demos on the 360, and I download Splinter Cell: DA, Quake IV, Dead Rising, and Prey. I've also play the GRAW demo and R6: LV demo.

The thing I noticed most is that the games developed for multiple platforms (SC: DA, Prey, Quake IV) suck. I don't know if it's just because they're demos, but the graphics look shoddy, and they just aren't as fun to play. The games developed specifically for the 360 are at least highly polished, however.

Is it like this with the final versions of these games, or just the demos? (I played the PC versions of Prey and Quake IV, and they were a lot better. F.E.A.R. was good on both the 360 and PC, though.)

Graphics, Shoddy, 360?!.. Never use those words in the same sentence again :pinch: Personally, I think that for the games that you mentioned the graphics are brilliant (For a platform game) I mean, of corse there are games with better graphics, for example 'Test Drive Unlimeted'. But thats just my opinion..:D

A. If some of you would please read, I said the demo. If you don't have experience with the demo, don't respond.

B. I was playing the games on a 21" HDTV.

C. Yes, I consider the graphics in the SC:DA demo to be shoddy, and the interface to be horrible.

You do realise that demo is short for Demonstration, right? What would be the point in giving them poorer graphics than the final product if it's meant to demonstrate what the full game is like?

to keep the filesize of the demo down. Even PC game demos do that.......

Well, you did ask about the final versions, there are your answers.

Anyway, I thought Quake 4 sucked on PC, hard (so it sucked on the console too). Prey was ok, but I enjoyed it more on the 360.

Apart from the gigantic lag you get outside cities..

What lag? :| I get no lag outside or anywhere in the world.

I thought Prey and SC: DA looked great on the 360. I only played the Quake 4 demo a little bit, but that was a launch game and seemed really rushed - don't even think the PC version was any better.

I hope you're joking.

Apart from what Meshuggah already mentioned, sometimes demos are released well before the final product, and the textures and other graphical features aren't fully implemented yet. Furthermore, while a demo is short for "demonstration," that doesn't always mean it's full of features -- hell, when the UT2K3 demo came out for the PC everyone was whining about the graphics only being the medium settings.

@Rodrigo: Yes, that was the point of the thread. The point of the thread was not, however, to belittle my statements. Telling me I'm crazy, stupid, etc. does not tell me if the game is better than the demo or not. It can give me an indication, but does not tell me these things.

I have SC:DA and I think the graphics are gorgeous. But... the framerate bothers me a lot. Most of the time it's fine, but other times, it just drops down to levels as bad as Chaos Theory on the NDS. Visually, the game is beautiful though.
