I would really like MS to update the REP system for live...everyone and there foul mouthed 9 year old has 5 stars...i always leave feedback and avoid players and yet no ones rep will ever go down...i know that im not the only one who can be doing this but i would love to see it be more accurate and actually worth something...

If enough people give negative feedback in or after a game that person's rep will drop (that?s been my experience from playing on live after seeing one person continually team killing).

My main complaint about the rep system is that it?s too open to abuse. My feedback totally sucks even though the majority of people giving me the negative feedback have done it out of spite because I somehow managed to beat them (it does not happen very often!). It's compounded by the fact that no one seems to give out any positive feedback these days.

What really put me off the whole rep system was after playing a round of PDZ one person gave me negative feedback for being 'too violent'. Now considering I don't have a headset for my 360 I can only assume he gave me the feedback because he would always respawn right in front of me which to be honest is totally out of my control.

I've been 'against' the whole rep system from the day i got Xbox360!

It's so true as your saying, all those 12 year old screaming kids have 5 stars because their Friends rate them so

I have had live for what, 2 month? Been having some great times, rated people etc. but i have no once recived a rating ...

and guess what? I can't be arsed to rate people anymore either, waste of time.

I am surprised people even have the time to go and rate people... I could care less about my rating or the ratings of others.... Ive played with some retards and most of them I never see again online or maybe once more... point is... who really gives a F about your xbox live rating??

I give a "F" about other people's ratings. If you see someone rated below 3 stars you know they aren't worth your time.

But what does that matter when people don't give a "F" about the entire rep system.

The reputation system is useless.

When you prefer a player: "Now theres a better chance of you playing with that person again" something like that..

But the newer games use a real server browser instead of quickplay.

I can't think of any games I've played where quickplay was the only option. I'm sure there are a few, but I've only seen that in demos so far. I believe the majority of games do have a server browser even if some of them aren't the greatest.

As far as rep - as long as I can avoid a player, I don't really care about their rating. If you play a lot of one-on-one games then I can understand. I'd check feedback beforehand and give feedback after every game, too.

Now say when I get done with a 24-player match of BF2 or COD3, the only time I might give feedback is if somebody is obviously intentionally team killing. It's too much work otherwise.

I hate the rep system.

I have two negative ratings and two positive ratings... the two negative ratings are for "Quitting Early." The only thing about these two is that I didn't quit early. I was the only player on my team who stayed the entire 8 rounds in Gears of War on one (everyone else quit after the second round), and the only player who stayed the last round in another Gears of War game. The other team thought it'd be amusing to give everyone on those teams a negative rating since we "sucked", though, even though I was still playing them and I had a higher score than all their players in one of the games and two of their players in the other (8-rounder).

i thought you didn't care about the rep system? then you say this? contraditcion!

anyway, most are right, the whole concept is a wash, complete opposite of gamescores...those are just addictive.

Maybe change your zone? I don't know. I find that I enjoy playing and chatting more on Recreation than on other "hardcore" zones, because frankly people playing on Recreation most of the time are nice... well, at least whenever I play with spanish speaking people... which is the whole time. :p

well GOW is an 18+ game or whatever so if you don't want trash talking (foul mouth people!) then stay out of the multi. Simply put, when the game first starts it gives that ESRB rating about online play maybe different. SO the game maybe M but online (IMHO) is AO!!! :) With the game so full of trash talking itself i don't see how people can complain about trash talking on Live. I play with this guy and he's worse than me but it's fun, cuz we talk trash to the other team and they talk trash to us but the whole game we were laughing our asses off. We played 19 rounds and they even came back and played another 19 rounds cuz it was just so much run chainsawing and shotgunning, boomshots and all that jazz. When we killed them we were like, "how do you like the taste of concrete bia!!!" There was this girl that joined too and she started trash talking too.... now that was fun. LOL

As for the rep system.... yeah it's a joke... i got one person that avoided me but the rest all love me as i communicate and i'm all about the team. Sometimes i say "mine mine" when it's my kill and i run up and curb but 90% of the time i don't care. I'm still trying to get those acheivements (all the online ones). Playing with the guys yesterday i added all them to preferred list since those guys (and girls) were so cool and lots of fun to play with.

Man, this rating system equaled a new low for me today (Gears of War).

Now I was negative repped for using certain weapons. I was the only guy on my team left against 3 other people, so naturally I went to the grenades and boomshot. Of course they got ****ed, so I stopped using it. Then one of their guys quit, and they demand I stop using shotgun because they don't know how I'm getting one shot kills (it's called blind fire or aiming for the head)... after the game two of their guys left negative feedback saying I left early.

My main complaint about the rep system is that it?s too open to abuse.

My first feedback I ever got, it was negative, for abusive language during a game of PGR3. Funny thing was I didn't have a mic at the time....

There's nothing I hate more in GoW than being on a team that doesn't talk

I'm kind of bashful when I'm on versus in GoW myself, . Sorry...i'm just shy I guess. But I'll respond when someone is talking to me, and respond if someone asks who is listening.

Umm...i think the rep system sucks too. I think the whole system needs to be simplified to a "Prefer this player" or "Avoid/Ignore this player" system.

But the rep stars is silly and pointless.

I think at this point, I only have 1 negative feedback and 0 positive feedback. The negative feedback was for "leaving a game early."

i hate the fact that i beat a dude say 6-0 at NHL 07 he leaves early and i get negative feedback cause i beat him. Take your licks and stfu, the only way you're going to get better is to get beat. I've never left a game early or quit in the middle of one, yet i get some morons giving me unsporting conduct and "leaving early" even tho that isn't the truth. I'm just playing the game and i'm winning.

that is the problem with the rep system it should just be removed.

yes, the rep system was MS being overly trusting of human nature and morals...always a mistake.

threefive, you're on GoW way too much...are you forgetting to eat your vegetables again?

heh heh, anyway, i love the occasional profane ululation, there's nothing wrong with cussing as long as it's in context. and btw an AO rating would entail you taking your clothes off during GoW and...well..and...hmmm.
