Diddy1
I don't know if you guys know this but Opera just signed a revenue sharing deal with google to put their search box in the browser again. After all they were the first browser to do so. So google will share the revenue they get from the searches and the google box will be back in the right corner. Thank You

halcyoncmdr
I never even noticed that it was missing. :( I don't use that box so I removed it from my toolbar, if your talking about what I think you're talking about. You probably aren't and I have no clue what's going on, so I'm gonna post a smily. :D

Beastage
I've always had the google search box.... when did it dissapear?
halcyoncmdr
I've always had the google search box.... when did it dissapear? Yeah same here I think. when I did have it on my bar I never used it, so I just decided to get rid of it. Using a search keyword in the address bar is much easier. Like "f neowin" searches in the page for neowin and highlights it. or "g neowin.net" searches google for neowin.net, I found that way much easier than trying to use the search box. I just wish there was a way to make it so if you forget the keyword you can make it automatically search on google or something. I tend to do that a lot. Pallab
It didnt dissapear. I think opera renwed their contract before it expired.
Denis W. Veteran Posted December 20, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 20, 2006 Apart from the revenue part, would it have made much of a difference if the contract wasn't renewed? To the end user the search field will still read Google, and even if not, there will be ways to add Google back into the list of engines.
Pallab
Yes. I think it was mainly the google deal that enabled Opera to go free. It's a significant revenue.
