beautiful.blood Posted December 14, 2006 Share Posted December 14, 2006 My friend just recently got the zune and was having trouble installing it and all that stuff so im helping him out with it. he is currently using windows media center 2002 and i read where it only supports rollup 2 of windows media center 2005. is there any way around this? like can i just get the drivers and then just have him use WMP or should just have him get a new version windows xp pro or home? thanx Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I don't know how the library works in the Zune but you might be able to just drag and drop files onto and hopefully they play. just have to use the mass storage mod. http://www.zunescene.com/zune-mass-storage-mod/ You can also try this mod which really just enables it to be installed on vista but since you can install it on vista you should be able to install it on MCE too. http://www.modaco.com/zunevista If you don't trust that guys msi you can do it yourself. http://decav.com/blogs/andre/archive/2006/11/17/623.aspx. Avery Bunker Posted August 14, 2007 Share Posted August 14, 2007 After waiting for the Zune Halo Edition I went and happily got one... I was disappointed after bringing it home that it would only work on XP SP2 or Vista.... I had loaded at the time Server 2003 due to being the platform for developers :) and of course the Zune is not supported.... So I reloaded my machine back to the Default Image for my machine and of course I was doomed for failure with Windows Media Center 2002 SP2.... Now I was kind of flaming due to the fact that Itunes with the Ipod works almost anywhere and my Microsoft Zune did not work at all on Microsoft Latest Operating Systems.... So I tried out Vista next to be disappointed that now my Zune works but then Aero did not work and there was no support for my Video Card.... There goes my Halo gameplay..... So I went back to the Toshiba Image of Media Center and started playing around with getting the software working and I was so happy to finally figure out the tricks...... This image shows that I loaded the default Zune Software after some modifications to the MSI file off the CD, then I went to the update software portion and it updated me to 1.3.... So far I have not seen any issues and I am syncing up some podcasts now...... This Image Shows the Software being updated to 1.3.... This Image shows the Sync process syncing up my favorite podcasts...... I hope to post some instructions here very soon as I find out a way to post without getting in trouble on the process.....
