Halo 3 gameplay video set for 20th December

Recommended Posts

According to a Belgian Blogger and member of the Xbox Elite Team, a Halo 3 trailer will appear on the Xbox Live Marketplace on December 20th. YLA G, the blogger, reports that the trailer will be 7 minutes long including 2.5 minutes of gameplay footage. The clip will aslo reveal the Brutes as playable characters.

On December 20 a new Halo 3 video will be available on marketplace. It?s a 7 minute video that will be released next week. It highlights the emergence of the Brutes as playable characters in the game. It touches on their skills, origins, and how they are being created. It has about 2 ? minutes of gameplay footage.

This rumor is definitely skeptical. Bungie made sure to announce the showing of a 1 minte CGI trailer but failed to report on gameplay footage? Playing as Brutes also leaves us wondering because the Arbiter wasn?t found to be a playable character until the release of the game. But if this is true and the trailer really does come, then Halo fans across the world will be in for a great ride.

Oooh, would be awesome if true. Though not so sure about Brutes as playable--how would that tie to the single player? Or is it multiplayer only? I really don't want something like the campaign in Halo 2.

Oh, please, please don't make me play Covenant again. Those Covenant levels were painful in Halo 2. Master Chief all the way.

I actually liked playing as the Arbiter. But I would have preferred more Master Chief levels than there were in the game.

New footage next week?

Xboxic uncovered a blog post from YLA G, a Microsoft employee who's part of the Xbox Elite Team Belgium, that reports about a 7 minute Halo 3 trailer to be available on Xbox Live Marketplace next week.

The clip will show the emergence of the Brutes as "playable characters" in the game and it will contain 2.5 minutes of gameplay footage.

As Xboxic says, this hasn't been confirmed anywhere else, but there have been hints that stuff is coming this month, so who knows? If we get something out of Bungie about this, we'll be sure to let you know. Update: The More Deluded reminded us that Bungie actually mentioned that SOMETHING was coming, back in mid-November:

Shortly after the commercial airs, we'll be treating our fans to the next installment in our "making of" documentary series on Xbox Live Marketplace. This next "VIDOC" is going to give some new insights into elements of the campaign and will peel back the curtain on a certain prominent character in Halo 3. We'll talk more about this in the coming weeks.

Doesn't mention Brutes specifically, but it certainly fits nicely with the rumor. Update 2: Frankie has confirmed (on the Gaming Age forums) that the 'playable brutes' part of this story, at least, is NOT true. Thanks to Ding On, on the Bungie.net forums, for the heads-up. Update 3: And he's now smacked it down on our own forum, as well, for folks who might not believe 'Stinkles' might actually be Frankie. (Louis Wu 14:54:42 UTC) (permalink)

720p video for the holidays sometime...

This week got a little mental, when some of our friends in Belgium "revealed" that a documentary feature would be on Xbox Live Marketplace next week, and "reveal" that the Brutes were playable characters in Halo 3. Well, they're not playable characters.

The fact is, Brutes in Halo 3 will be significantly more exciting, clever, graphically impressive, terrifying, numerous and angrier than in Halo 2, but they won't be playable, especially since you, in the role of Master Chief, will be spending a significant amount of effort and ammunition reducing their population.

The documentary mentioned on the interwebs, does indeed exist, as I have mentioned before in previous updates. We're keeping the exact contents as a kind of holiday surprise for the faithful, and you'll be able to see the entire thing in 720p and surround sound some time next week. It's a very interesting piece. especially if you're interested in Campaign mode.
