Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted December 16, 2006 Global Moderator Share Posted December 16, 2006 Ive had COD2 since the console came out it was my very first game i got. great multiplayer online and offline, and i had downloaded all of the new maps. I downloaded them, they worked great, played great, and then COD3 came out. since the day i played it, it screws up my COD2 maps so i can't use them anymore. Ive tried "re-download" the maps, and that didn't work. I tried deleting the maps and re-downloading them from scratch, and THAT didn't work.. wtf! they only work when connected to the internet (xboxlive), but when i bring my 360 over to a friends house, we can't play any of the new maps.. wtf.. anyone else have this problem? neoadorable
sorry, dunno. aren't they supposed to be two different folders for downloads? i doubt COD3 is what messed them up.
Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted December 18, 2006 Author Global Moderator Share Posted December 18, 2006 it's when i disconnect from the internet, the maps disappear.. i really dont want to format my HDD, i have so many game saves
neoadorable
well, because the single player/offline mode has a smaller number of maps. i thinks many of those you play at online are cached or temp downloaded to save space, that's why they disappear when you go offline. i don't really know, this is theorizing. No, the two games are stored in separate folders, so CoD3 shouldn't be touching CoD2's maps. I presume the maps your refering to are the Map Pack? In which case, it definitely shouldn't be touching them, since they're like a gamer picture, you don't cache them, they're supposed to be there all the time. neoadorable
don't format your HDD Lyle, that would be too much of a pain. Did you contact Activision? what did they say? PC Madness, i insist...it could be that some maps aren't stored on the drive at all.

You don't download the map every time you want to play it, thats not how CoD engine works. And your not allowed to join a match with a map from one of the other map packs which you have to pay for, so you couldn't just "join" a match and download the map temporarily. Theres a map pack, which is stored on the harddrive, and then theres the default maps, which are stored on the game disc. Are you sure your not getting the two confused? Are you sure your not getting the two confused? i posted in the microsoft section, because it's an xbox360 problem. the downloadable maps are not showing up. the ones on the game disc that come with the game appear and are playable. the downloadable maps ARE playable, only when connected to the internet. once i yank the connection, even before a match up, it disables the new maps.
