Lost Planet Demo Success

Wow, that's quite impressive for just a demo!

It seems that we as Live members can?t get enough of Lost Planet, as more than one million people have downloaded both the single and multi player demo offerings that exist on the Marketplace.

Capcom also state that their multiplayer demo has clocked over 300,000 hours worth of games, which is a staggering amount for just a demo with little variety. This probably explains why they were planning on releasing a patch for the demo, just to keep everyone happy.

Capcom have got to be pretty darn pleased with those figures, as they should expect now to see their game fly to the top of the chart come release week. It?ll be the first big game of 2007, and regardless of whether people have any money left after Christmas or not, you can expect this game to sell a lot.

Personally, I never got into the game and apart from the superb graphics, I don't see what all the fuss is abo;). ;) What do you guys think so far?

Can you still get the demos?

Yes, I downloaded both the SP and MP demos the other day when I got my 360.

Awesome demos, the MP is fun as hell, though not "shockingly" awesome like some people are making it out to be. It is fun. The graphics are the main sell point though it looks like, and they are pretty nice looking, I'll give them that. The explosions are freaking sweet, and the mechs are nice as well.

Yeah, the graphics are great. It's the first native 1080p game for the 360, although I don't think the demo is native 1080p. Game was originally scheduled for my birthday, but they pushed it back a week. I have the Limited Edition pre-ordered, but I still haven't finished the last level on the SP game, but I did play some rounds of the MP. It's decently fun, although sometimes the controls can be a little weird.

I enjoyed using the grappling hook to get to the top of the level, jumping down halfway, and using the grappling hook again to aim at this mech this guy was trying to get to. I jumped on top of it, got in, and blasted him with a rocket launcher. I think the game gets more enjoyable if you try to think of interesting things to do with the grappling gun, but there are already some insanely good players online. I will be getting my ass kicked all the time, heh.

Why do you always doubt everyone on here? I couldn't find any official information, but I read it a while back that both Lost Planet and Blue Dragon would be native 1080p. We will find out soon enough.

If you mean me? I am not, just a little confusing. I did read Halo 3 was the first native "to be" 1080p game so we will have to see.

Hmm...I'll have to download the demo when I get home from college on Friday...I'd do it before then, but I have an exam on both Thursday and Friday, so studying is taking up all my time.

Just played abit of it... personally I thought it was pretty sucky. :s Movement was rather hard. (I often found my guy shooting over his shoulder cos I was facing off in the wrong direction), the enemies seemed rather boring and the graphics really didn't seem all that great. :\

I was hooked on this game the first time I seen it :woot: .

It might not be groundbreaking in any respects, but it's great fun to play imo  Have the limited edition on preorder (comes with a limited edition faceplate too :D )

so theres been 1Million downloads of the sp and mp combined and yet theres been a total of ONLY 300,000 multiplayer hours? Either single players taking the very high majority of those downloads or people arent giiving the game alot of playtime at all. Even if MP had had 100,000 of those downloads I would expect more than 300,000 hours being played.

I didn't like the single player demo when I first played it, but after I gave the demo another chance a day or two later I got a little further and eventually beat both levels. I honestly can't wait for this one. I wasn't interested in this game before the demo came out, but it's been on my most wanted list since May.

The multiplayer I liked from the start, but after a while I got bored with it. Hopefully the other levels are more balanced.

I loved the SP demo, very good in my opinion. However, I thought the MP was really boring, really didn't even get me hooked for 5 minutes...

Agreed. I will rent the game for the single player as I have played that demo and definitely liked it, although I cannot say I was really impressed, I just liked it. But I will rent it for the SP, and give the MP another chance when I do rent it. I can say that the MP demo captured my attention for a full 10 minutes, and I stopped playing it.

I guess i liked it. All i really liked doing was just climbing stuff. Im not sure why everyone thinks the graphics were great, because i dont think they were anything special. Anyways, am i the only person who has no clue what the hell im doing in the MP.

I played the SP demo and enjoyed looking at the explosion FX. The demo was pretty fun. I have yet to try the MP one.

I don't know how you can say the graphics aren't great. I think this is a superb looking title. But to each his own, eh?

Anyway, AFAIK, in MP it's basically like "territories" in Halo 2. Basically, you walk up to those things that say "punch B" or whatever and keep hitting B until it deactivates the opponnet's color and reactivates to your color. The team with the most time clocked wins.
