Gamespot/XBLA scam or not?

Recommended Posts

I got an email a little while ago from Gamespot...I think, offering me 3 free XBLA games if I register through a website and do it before Jan 15th. Here's what it says in the email:

Get Xbox 360 and fill it up with three Xbox Live? Arcade

games?FREE.

Just do the following:

1. Buy an Xbox 360 system

2. Register online with promo code (code removed just in case it's leg:D :D)

3. Sign up for Xbox Live

You?ll get a code in an e-mail to download the games for free on Xbox Live. Offer expires January 15, 2007.

Now, I checked the gamespot forums and there is a thread back from Nov. 30th or so about this sort of email, and the website this one I got does forward to the website they discuss in that thread. People have said it is legit and all, but I'm still wary about doing it. The only reason why I'm even considering it is because I would like to have the full versions of Geometry Wars and Assault Heroes if I c:)ld :)

https://reg.msgamestudios.com/default.aspx?...mp;locale=en-US is the website that you have to go to, when you click on the sign in button it takes you to what appears to be the legit Windows Live sign in page, and neither FF nor IE warned me with the phising filters on. I did get a security warning on the first site, that the certificate wasn't complete or something.

Anyone else get this, use this, try this, anything? Just curious.
