Pinata Fun

Recommended Posts

I just got the game and I must say..it's a lot more than I was expecting. Very deep for just a game about pinatas and gardening them. It's not that easy either..damn sour pinatas killed my mousemallow.

RIP Chu.

Basically you control and make a garden to attract and grow pinatas together. There are many gameplay elements and things to the game that you just have to play yourself to experience it.

Wikipedia has a good description of it:

Likened to The Sims, Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon, the game tasks the player with turning a disused plot of land into a beautiful garden. As with many sandbox games, the game is open-ended, with no strict winning or losing requirements. Instead, players are guided only generally towards the objectives of increasing their garden's value and attracting pi?ata residents. Players are free to determine their own sub-goals and work towards them.

Developing a successful garden requires setting up the land and foliage appropriately to attract pi?atas, as well as purchasing various items to place within the garden (e.g., homes for the pi?atas). When certain requirements are fulfilled, the garden will attract a simple black-and-white version of a given pi?ata species. After fulfilling additional requirements, the pi?ata will become a resident, changing into a full-color version. Once two pi?atas of the same species are residents and their mating (romance) requirements are met, they can perform a romantic dance, resulting in a baby pi?ata egg.

When pi?atas get together to mate, a maze-navigation minigame is initiated. Completing the mating minigame successfully will result in the creation of a new pi?ata offspring. For species encountered early in the game, the minigames are simple, but as the game progresses, minigames become increasingly difficult. The difficulty also increases as more members of a given species are resident, so that players have fewer lives (in the minigame) for each pi?ata of that type already in the garden.

In addition to looking after the needs of their pi?atas, players must also watch out for ruffians and sour pi?atas, who enter the garden with the intent of wreaking havoc. Their mischief includes eating fruits or vegetables, destroying objects, or causing resident pi?atas to become ill. If the player is resourceful, sour pi?atas can, however, be won over and turned into productive garden residents. Once a sour pi?ata species has been tamed, the player is awarded a piece of the Tower of Sour, which prevents future visits from that type of sour.

I'm definitely renting this game. I've heard nothing but good things about it so far.

Definitely pick it up. It's probably one of the most intrigueing games I've played in a while. There are so many things to do in the game and the wide array of gameplay elements and designs all together are just perfect. When you first start the game, it might not seem like much but after you put in several hours, you'll truly see how outstanding it is.

Truthfully, I couldn't imagine any children under 10 playing this game and succeeding in it. It's a lot harder and deeper than it likes from the front cover(believe me, my friends laughed at me). Never judge anything by its cover though--everything you'd expect from a good, well thought out game is there. Rare truly has made a gem with this.

Another plus of the design is that it's quite pretty too. Probably one of the few games that really bring out the beauty of HD. (it'll look pretty good on SD as well though).

Awesome game. (Y)

The game truely is hard, I find it really difficult to stop the pinatas fighting. Anybody have tips?

There should be a warning label on this game about how addictive it is :p When I first played it was for about 7 hours straight. Not had time to play games lately though sadly.

And also, if you have a lady friend, don't expect to play your 360 for a while :pinch: :p

^^ yeah, as far as I know there's only an interactive video, not an actual demo

Yeah, I download the 'demo' today.

That has to be the worst spent 800mb EVER :p

Might as well streamed a trailer somewhere :/

Spartan, any words on a real demo? :D

I bought the game when it first came out. It's even better than I expected. A friend of mine recently bought it since he'd always see me online playing this game, he says he's glad he bought it too.

I agree that it's too hard for young children. There's just way too much to do and keep track of. Has anybody tried using the "kid" controls? Maybe that makes the overall game easier, too?

And the girl issue...yeah, she's like a level 35 or something and I doubt I'll ever catch up with her. At least she lets me use my 360 from time to time.
