DirtyLarry Veteran Posted December 27, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 27, 2006 Magik: is that remote RF? D you have to point it at the 360 for it to work, or can you aim it somewhere else and it will still work? I did not put it here as I did not think it was 360 related but it indeed is as the remote controls the 360 along with everthing else, Only difference is the one magik has is marketed as specifically to work with the the 360, it is the same colors and such, but I got the Logitech Harmony 880, which also works with the 360 as well. To answer your question, since that is why I posted, not 100% sure. With my AV Receiver I am finding the remote needs to be aimed directly at it. However with my cable box, I can aim the Remote in the exact opposite direction and it will still works... So really not sure. As magik said, it is amazingly kick ass. The Activities are great. I press Play 360, and it turns my TV to the correct input, turns my A/V Receiver to Video 2 which is what I have it hooked up to, and turns my 360 on, all at the same time with one push of a button. Same for watch Cable, Watch DVD, etc. Amazingly cool Remotes.

magik
Magik: is that remote RF? D you have to point it at the 360 for it to work, or can you aim it somewhere else and it will still work? It is RF. But it depends on the sensitivity of the device that you're trying to send signals to. For example, my AV receiver isn't very sensitive and needs the remote to be pointed directly at the AV receiver for it to get the signal, while my Cable Box is much more lenient and I can be pointing it virtually anywhere in the room and it will still receive the signal. It's just a truly universal remote with programmability to allow you to input "Activities". Each activity can do several things, for example (just like DL) one of my activities is "Play Xbox 360" and that will turn on the AV receiver and set it to the appropriate input, turn on the TV and set it to the appropriate input, and then turn on my 360 all with a push of 1 button. It also remembers if a unit is on or off so that you don't accidentally turn off your TV or something like that when you switch between 'activities'. Great product and I highly recommend this remote (or pretty much any other Logitech Universal Remote for that matter) to anyone who currently needs more than 1 or 2 remotes to do various things on their setup. Now, when I say this remote can control everything I literally mean everything! This thing can even control the powered blinds we have in the fouyer (Hunter Douglas). And if there's a specific function on one of the remotes that you use that was not included in the large database of remote codes that this thing has you can always 'teach' the logitech remote these functions. Using the software, you set the remote on 'Learn Mode' and then point your current remote to the logitech remote and it'll learn the new code for the button you pressed. Not really a new feature for capable universal remotes, but it does make the functionality and the versatility of this remote virtually endless.
