DarkGashX
BOO! BOOO!! :boo::boo::boo::boo: I think spartan_x is doing the right thing :p. If you want a 360, get one now. A small NM CPU is cooler and quieter but 50% of the consoles problems are not heat related so what difference will it make. I give it a couple weeks after the new rev is out and people will start complaining about hat one too.

Joswin
I'm not in any rush for the 360 so i can wait. That stuff about mixing up the stock is a bit BS though... imagine if Nintendo mixed up the "Original" DS and the "Lite" ones and made it a lottery. Yeah there is no performance difference, but heat and noise are significant enough factors to sway choices. Also that power brick must also be getting smaller - so now its a space thing too. I'll wait. Nothing on 360 that i cant "hold off" to play. Of course the PS3 and Wii will be all in stock by then so it might make the choice tougher XD :p
AbandonedTrolley
Yup being honest, if they said they were replacing the drives I would consider that a bigger influence than the CPU. Right now that's the only thing that comes close to annoying me. Never had my Xbox lock up :D
devBrian
The quiet ones will sell on ebay for quite a bit.
Sethos
I don't understand the whole "Quiet" thing, my 360 is as silent as a sleeping lamb. It's the DVD-Drive making all the noise!
daveoc64
i remember this story itself actually came out in early 2006. heres hoping i eventually get one of these cooler systems when i buy one in 2007 The story was around BEFORE the 360 launched. Yep, but the news that the new chips would come in early 2007 was announced back in April.

Well the drive is a part of the 360 so if thats noisy so is the 360. I find the noise differs ALOT based on the game being used. Tony Hawkes and Perfect Dark seem unusually loud to me while others seem to be alot more quiet. I dont know what that is and I only notice initially not after a while so either I'm emmersed in the game by then or its something to do with accessing data at the extremity of the drive or something. I really couldnt say but.

Yeah, mine runs decently quiet but once you pop a game in, the DVD drive starts roaring. It'd be awesome if they could fix that so when I'm gaming late at night I'll still be able to hear my speakers over the noise :(
Smigit
I'm actually quite amazed how the dvd drive can firstly be as noisy as it is some times and secondly how it was never addressed. When it screams like that not only is it loud but it doesnt inspire alot of confidence. You'd think it'd be easy to fix seeing as I havent ever heard a drive that noisy before.
