Pentaborane
I was 'this' close to buying a 360 Pro... then I remembered I may as well wait the couple months for the CPU update. That really sucks. Any thoughts? Worth waiting for?
Sethos
Worth it? It's just gonna produce less heat - Not worth waiting MONTHS for such a small 'upgrade'
Spartan_X
Worth it? It's just gonna produce less heat - Not worth waiting MONTHS for such a small 'upgrade' that and the fact that you're not granted to get a box with the 65mn processor, so, waiting for it is as useful as buying lotery tickets...  :p
Huleboeren
I say you wait 3-4 years until all 90nm are sold out.

So you would be paying less (money) for more (technology)
DarkGashX
Thats incorrect, Microsoft #1 priority as said by them is to reduce manufacturing costs, they think they will hit it by Q2 2007.
Huleboeren
But it will also make it cheaper. So you would be paying less (money) for more (technology) You really think they drop the price because of lower manufacturing costs? They wont drop until one of the other consoles drop.. ToneKnee
You really think they drop the price because of lower manufacturing costs? They wont drop until one of the other consoles drop.. Well, since the Wii is in a different league, Sony won't drop the prices for a long time! :p Microsoft will drop the price, then know they need to keep a lead on Sony! Acezo
1) I doubt you're worried about how much heat the CPU is generating. 2) Sound shouldn't be an excuse since the DVD drive makes more noise than the fans. 3) It's not going to be faster. 4) Microsoft will probably use the reduction in production costs to their advantage rather than the consumers (I bet the 360's price won't change because of the chips, Microsoft will just make more money per console)
Roger H. Veteran Posted December 26, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 26, 2006 they haven't been making any money on the Xboxs since it launched and now they'll make $70 or so per console sold in profit. You really think they are ready to drop the price just when they are gonna make money from an Xbox finally? They have to recoup costs for all the xbox's sold before they will start thinking of lowering prices. The 360 prolly wont lower till next christmas since the PS3 is still 600 there's no real reason to lower it. The Wii isn't in the same league so they prolly wont even if the Wii drops in price. Brandon Live Veteran Posted December 26, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 26, 2006 I say you wait 3-4 years until all 90nm are sold out. Is that supposed to be funny?
daveoc64
There's no need to wait. It's printed on a circuit board that is 25nm thinner. The difference is really cost to Microsoft. I don't see a price drop yet. Perhaps more bundling or the Core package gaining something.

v0ltage789
No point in waiting unless you are a noise freak, the recent made xbox 360's have all the major problems solved, so there really isnt a problem running them, and on top of that, they are mixing the new cpu's in with current stock so you will never know if you get a new one, and even then you will probably have to take it apart just to find out. It doesn't matter and theres no point in holding off. The move is just to cut manufacturing cost.
