Smashing Pumpkin
I've got the offer of having a ?50 2 year warranty from microsoft for my new xbox 360, or a 2 year extended warranty from the shop I bought it from. My mum prefers the one from the shop as she can buy it in installments and not spend so much money at once, also she feels the shopping chain would be more local and friendly than MS, the shop say they'll repair it asap or if unrepairable they'll replace it. Which do you guys think I should get? Thanks, Richard. p.s Gears has sort of lagged the tiniest bit today, sort of small freezing for a half second or so during the action, is that normal ? ;))

Liquid
Hmm. If it was Best Buy or Future Shop, I'd say go with the store. Them? I'm not so sure.
Smashing Pumpkin
What's so special about the Best Buy and Future Shop warranties, everyone's always talking about em.
GNRambo
If you feel that you can trust the store, and if they are well known, go with the store. The advantage is that you can take it in instead of having to ship it to Microsoft.
Smashing Pumpkin
So Microsft offer no, sort of, big advantages over store warranties, if not I'll probably go with the store.
+dnast Subscriber² Posted December 26, 2006 Subscriber² Share Posted December 26, 2006 I like the Best Buy warranty because I can simply exchange my system right then and there if anything is wrong with it (I've done it already). Not sure if it's the same with Future Shop. I've heard they take a certain amount of days to try to fix it before you can replace it with a new system. I don't live in Canada, though, so I could be wrong.
TokyoKiller
Futureshop and Bestbuy Canada do it differently, they will take your system (One advantage here is you don't ship anything unlike the MS warranty) and then they would ship it to a repair and diagnose center and if it you don't get a system back in 60 days they will give you either the same product or the full money you paid. Also Futureshop and Bestbuy's warranty covers power surges and such things.
DrCheese
Shop warranty would probally give you a new box rather than the refurbed(pfff) piles of garbage that MS give you
TokyoKiller
Shop warranty would probally give you a new box rather than the refurbed(pfff) piles of garbage that MS give you Good point, since if MS can't repair the console they will probably send you a refurbished one that costs lesser to them to replace, at the store you could just pick one up on ur own and use ur warranty to take it.
