DarkGashX
Is that ok? :). The powerbrick has it's own small shelf and my 360 is on top with nothing blocking air holes and around 3 - 5 inches at the back. Oh, it has been on all day, air coming out of it is cold but the back is warm and warm air. Doesn't seem like overheating issues could occur? Pargo
its makes the powerbrick extremely cool if you suspend it in the air like put it on two edges of a small box.. if you feel like doin it
DrCheese
Ya I have my xbox the same way and it seems ok. I was thinking of raising my xbox a bit tho by putting two small blocks of wood or a few DVD cases under so the holes on the bottom of the case can breath(Yes I'm paranoid)
v0ltage789
unless you have a launch system thats never been repaired, its not entirely necessary to obsess over the cooling, but I would say it is fine.
DarkGashX
I checked my system was Made 19th August 2006 and is the XMAS UK GoW Limited Edition bundle console.
TokyoKiller
Hey, my console was made on August 22nd, maybe they were in the same factory at once :D?
Pilsbury
IME, the console runs much cooler when it is vertical than when it's horizontal.

MightyJordan
IME, the console runs much cooler when it is vertical than when it's horizontal. Yeah, but it's not as good when it's vertical. The games seem to play better in horizontal.
Nashy
Yeah, but it's not as good when it's vertical. The games seem to play better in horizontal. it should be the same...
MightyJordan
Then again, it might be different with the new 360s. It was like this on my 1st 360, which was a launch one.
DrCheese
I took a while to decide the best way to place it, I went on the fact that the bottom when its vert has much more vent holes covered up than when its horz. The only thing I can think of to keep it cool in every hole is to raise the bottom of it a bit with some small blocks of wood. Also I can't stand putting discs in when its vert
Pilsbury
How so? Mine is noticeably cooler to the touch and the fans are quieter when the console is vertical. Same location, same enviromentals, so, it must be more efficient cooling when vertical. Which I guess makes sense as vertical positioning puts some of the exit ventilation holes on the top of the console, giving it convection cooling.
