Kraftman
I am thinking of getting a VGA cable for my 360 so that I can connect it, high-def style, to my 19" standard aspect ratio monitor @ 1280 x 1024. First question, will this work, or do you need widescreen for HD to not look distorted? Second question, is there any reason to buy the offical Microsoft cable over the third-party one? Meshuggah
1. yes it will work, it supports both WS and FS resolutions. 2. No, but I prefer the official one myself, as it comes with a few bonuses. 3. Want more answers? Find the Microsoft Forum, post in there, because this is the wrong section of the forum, and this question has been answered countless times. :)

sharpy2k4
i have a joytech vga and i prefer using the HD cables that came with my Premium, the colours look a bit faded, but once i got surround sound ill go back to the joytech as it has optical connections and also i can use the VGA when i go to granparents as i can take my brothers 15" LCD monitor to play on. Yusuf M. Veteran Posted December 28, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 28, 2006 Get the official VGA-HD cable. You may have to set the viewing mode to widescreen because of stretching. I did the same thing with my 17" monitor (4:3).
Hupp
i have the official one and used it on my monitor before i had an hd-tv and i thought it worked great
neoadorable
of course it will work. 1280X1024 is one of the supported res's, but you will get black bars in some games, which is a really minor issue.

Looks gorgeous. 2) I've never had much luck with 3rd party stuff. I always go first party, even though it costs more. You get what you pay for. -Spenser

Sheppard
Id always go first party for perhipherals, i bought a generic VGA cable and it was a bag of crap, got massive amounts of interference because it was cheap and unshielded. Bought a Microsoft one and its perfect.
