Effective December 22, 2006, the Xbox 360 console warranty has been extended to one year from the date of purchase. The extended warranty applies to new customers and existing Xbox 360 owners.

If you experience hardware issues with your Xbox 360 console within one year of purchase, your console will be repaired at no cost*. For those who already paid for repairs within their first year of ownership you can expect reimbursement checks for the amount of the console hardware repair in approximately 10 weeks. These will be automatically distributed. You do not need to contact Microsoft?.

Do you have to register your console to get warranty goodness?

I got my 360 in March , it was faulty end of November, phoned up, they said it wasn't registered so I registered over phone and had the 1 year warrenty, I don't think you have to but maybe better do it just to be on the safe side

I'm on the phone on hold waiting to see if people who bought extended warranties get them extended as well. Hopefully they push mine back 9 months.

sweet!!!! they did. Now mine won't expire until Jan 9th, 2008! :D :D

He bought an extended warranty, so they are going to apply the extended period after the full year they are now giving.

So America didn't have any form of warranty? We got 12 months here in Aussie. I think its illegal to sell electrical goods without a warranty here...

The 360 had 3 months. Wii and PS3 both had 1 year from the start though.
