T2: Extreme Edition and the 360

Recommended Posts

I know that the 360 is definitely capable of playing the WMV content on the second disc of this set. Though, is possible? From what I've read on the net, you've got to get the licenses on your PC, then stream the content to the 360. Is there any easier way to do this? My primary computer is a Mac, so I really don't want to go through all this hoopla if I don't have to.

Well I picked it up, it was only $6.50 at Target. The first disc plays just fine, as it's just your standard DVD. The WMV content won't play on my Mac because of the DRM. The 360 also doesn't recognize the disc as a data disc, only DVD, so I can't browse to the files to play. Though, I am fairly certain that the 360 would have the same problem as the Mac, as the instructions that came on the DVD say that I have to install the Interactual player to play the HD version of the film. Though, the standard edition doesn't look bad upscaled to 1360x768.

The last time I tried I couldn't even play it on my PC anymore because the InterActual server wouldn't validate the license or whatever. Really lame DRM on that thing. Sucks because if they hadn't done stupid DRM like that, the format had a lot of potential (the video quality was amazing and it fit on the DVD disc).

I had a problem similar to Brandons [https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=452765&hl=] and I got it to play without Interactual by running dvdrun.exe on the root of the drive. Then I could play the DRM'd WMVs in WMP11 just fine.

I promptly renamed the files to [NoDRM]Terminator 2 Extreme xx.wmv :) It's my DVD, and I want to do whatever the hell I want with it.

Long story short rename *cough* the files to [NoDRM]filename.wmv and then the X360 will play them just fine. Or so I hope. I'll try right now.

Hehe, thanks for the tip. I may set it up on my Windows box in a bit. I did see the entire flick awhile ago in the standard DVD format, but I know my TV and the 360 could do much more than that. I'll let you know how it works out.

I had the same thought after they allowed video streaming through media connect. I dug out the DVD, acquired the license, and copied the files to my HDD. They played fine on my PC but the 360 would not play them. Stupid DRM.
