Kraftman
Horizontal. a) More breath room b) Easier to insert disks (they don't fall out!) c) Don't have room for vertical :p d) More stable (knocking over)
lawtai
I position my 360 horizontally since I'm afraid it'll get knocked over if it's vertical.

beanboy89
For me I chose "Null Vote (Just want to vote)" since I don't yet have an XBox 360 (just the original XBox :(). My original XBox is horizontal.

Brandon
It used to be vertical. I just bought a 5.1 reciever, so I have to add a shelf to my bookcase/tv stand thing for it so I dont have room.
FiB3R
Horizontal because it seems to make a lot of noise when vertical.
Shadrack
Horizontal. I had mine vertical and my nephew was running through the house and bumped the desk it was on it and nearly took a pretty bad tumble but I caught it. Horizontal is much safer. The 360 looks sexy any orientation you have it. It has the best appearance and form factor of all the next gen consoles in my opinion.
FreqFace
I did have mine horizontal, sitting on top of my Xbox, but since I've packed my Xbox away, I put it vertical.
bibutteryboy
you see, there is a difference between a youngster and someone older. The youngster asks what position your 360 is in, and an older person asks his girlfriend what position she likes. I'm guessing this crowd is of the younger persuasion

I'm guessing this crowd is of the younger persuasion ^^ LOL, but no, I was just curious as I have seen several threads saying vertical is better and some with horizontal is better so I just wanted to see what the Neowin members do... on their Xbox 360 ;). If not, apologies.
MGS4-SS
Diagonal :D Mine is vertical, but every now and then I switch it with the PS2 (the X360 goes horizontal, the PS2 vertical).
