DarkGashX
Well I checked and according to MS, they wont, because my account will always be a "child" account and it cannot be changed, it will also, always be moderated :(. Im really annoyed at this, the only option I have is to delete my account and make a new one losing 2100 MS Points, achievements, friends and my gamertag. I think I'll call MS later today. AmpCoder
Thats interesting. I called Xbox support a couple of days ago because of a problem I am (for some reason my account is flagged as half-child/half-adult) and while we were talking about it, they mentioned that once your Live ID age hits 18, then it automatically becomes a regular non-child account. DarkGashX
NOW THAT, is very strange. I have found a support article that says it cannot "be changed". And it will always have family settings I.E. moderated even when "the child" hits 18. Looks like MS is telling porkys?
neoadorable
those are just community announcements and they're pretty nice actually, add to the mood of XBL. what do you mean your account's moderated? i doubt MS really wants to know if you're 18 or not, that's entirely up to you. and yes, i think you should call them and get some answers. AmpCoder
It's not exactly moderated, but if the Live ID that is tied to your Gamertag is under the age of 18, then you are required to enter a parent Live ID account that controls a lot of the settings for the child account. Supposedly, once you turn 18, it is changed into a regular account where you can control everything. The problem here is, we do not know if this is automatically done, or if it is even done at all. DarkGashX
A microsoft support page says it CANNOT be converted and it is "moderated" by the parent account.. The funny thing is I have found an "exploit" in the site allowing you to change some settings without the parent account, I still see no "ADS". I'll wait a month or two and get on the phone... AmpCoder
What is the URL to the page? I've been looking around for something that has any kind of information on it, but I am unable to find anything.
DarkGashX
ADS: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917760 Child Account: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/906926 At the bottom If your current account is parentally controlled and you become an adult, your account will continue to be parentally controlled. You must have the owner of the Windows Live ID account who established parental controls on your account turn off those parental controls so that you can use the Xbox Live enabled profile without restrictions. neoadorable
this isn't right, you should be able to contact them and sort it out quick. and they really don't need to ask for age anyway. i mean, how can they possibly verify it? i shudder to think... DarkGashX
I will be calling them though to sort this out :). If they wont sort it I think I have to get out the old moaning book. *Looking at you Dell, thanks for my 2407 :p*.

halcyoncmdr
I know this, my ID says I'm 17 and it asks for a parent account, yet there is no parent account tied to my passport, and it won't accept the account I just made to try it out. So WTF. I gave up for this exact reason 6 months ago when I called MS and they said there was no age restriction on gettingan xbox.com account and the site was telling me different. After being transfered back and forth I just gave up. Now it is ****ing me off, every time that I call MS I never get anything fixed. Besides, I can't find a section in my account settings anywhere that could even possibly show that I have a "child" account, or how to cahnge it or anything. Granted, I made my passport a long time ago, that probably has something to do with it.

Call them up and ask them to remove the family settings from the account thats what I am going to try tomorrow and also maybe this may help (MS anit too smart ;)) https://live.xbox.com/en-GB/signup/UIPStart...privacysettings EDIT: Also, if your account (Xbox.com, under Manage Profile) has a link on the right that says "Family Settings" not "Privacy Settings" it's a "Child" Account. halcyoncmdr
That's the thing, I can't login on xbox.com until I make an account there, which needs a parent account login, which does not exist lol. I can't even look at that page you posted. It really is a PITA.
OhMuffin
Mines an Adult account, I'm 17, but for age i put that i was born in the 50's... so I guess I'm a big boy. All this just because you want ADS poping in your face... I see the ads once every few months...

I am Reid
No, I want the banners for nice offers and to know what is new. It is a nice feature... You are making a big deal out of nothing. I couldnt even tell you what those ads say. When i do see them they just say xbox live, nothing else. You are expecting them to show something like %50 off on all games, but thats not what it is. Its just a microsoft ad about something you are already using.

And, thats besides the fact I have to login to a 2nd account to change my own settings. **Heh** What a 500th post lol :p.

My account is double tagged as a child and as a regular account, yet I cannot access any type of parental settings because I do not have access. I called support last Janurary and talked to an Xbox Live Engineer and they had no idea what was wrong, and I am going to call tomorrow and hopefully I will talk to another Xbox Live Engineer about this. What really amazes me is the fact that they didn't put some type of feature in their backend that allows an engineer or someone to change an account to a regular account from a child or vice versa. That doesn't make any sense to me at all, that should be common sense to include something like that.
