Circaflex
Guys just got my xbox360 and i love it, but what would you recommend for the HD setting. I have an Insignia IS-TV040927, http://www.insignia-products.com/pc-20-7-i...ts--silver.aspx should i just set it to 1080i and it will scale down if needed? bangbang023 Veteran Posted December 31, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 31, 2006 The TV does 1080i, so there won't be any scaling down. Leave it at 1080i.
giga Veteran Posted December 31, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 31, 2006 Set it to it's native res, though it doesn't show it on the product page.
Meshuggah
i prefer 1080i on my HDTV as I think the text and image quality is much better, but on some tv's 720p is better. I would try both and see which one you prefer, as all tv's are different.
DarkGashX
On my monitor 1080i flickers a little although it does look a little sharper. Just see what things look best at for you!
PL_ Veteran Posted December 31, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 31, 2006 On mine 1080i looks more blurred, but less flickery :s
Metal Blood
I keep mine on 720p. To be honest I haven't even tried 1080i, it might be sharper but because its interlaced it only draws half of the screen at a time so you will get some flickering and the image won't be as solid. Hupp
i run mine @ 1080i and it looks alot sharper then it did at 720p
-Dave-
i have mine at 720p. for a start most sets only display 1320 x 768, and so if u run 1080i ur reli only getting 768i, and thus 720p is the better option
bangbang023 Veteran Posted December 31, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 31, 2006 His set is a tube, guys, so the native resolution (if you want to call it that), is 1080i.
Metal Blood
My TV's native resolution is 720p but it can do 1080i, I don't care which one I use they both look so much better than SDTV's.
Shadrack
i prefer 1080i on my HDTV as I think the text and image quality is much better, but on some tv's 720p is better. I would try both and see which one you prefer, as all tv's are different. Some televisions de-interlace the image from an interlaced source (1080i) and if this unit isn't fast enough you may see interlacing artifacts (jagged images in a frame) during high-frame rate games (fps/race car....etc.). With the VGA cables on a computer monitor I have found that the ~720p resolution looks better then the ~1080p resolution setting for some games because the game has to lower its anti-aliasing settings to keep the frame rates up. I prefer lower resolution with less aliasing myself. Now that you have an xbox 360 you will have plenty of time to try each and every setting until you find what works best for you. -shad
Roger H. Veteran Posted January 1, 2007 Veteran Share Posted January 1, 2007 My TV's native resolution is 720p but it can do 1080i, I don't care which one I use they both look so much better than SDTV's. IF you set it at 1080i it'll just scale it down. You don't get both :) (if i'm wrong then someone PM me as i've stated this a few times but can't find the threads i replied in to see if someone corrected me - as far as i know tho, RPTvs do 1080i and plasmas and most other LCDs not RP LCDs do 720p)
Con
This is my tv: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN-R268W-HD-...l/dp/B0009612GQ Should I set it to 1080i?
realmccoy
Just try both and see which one looks better. I thinking that with the tv being a 26 inch 720 will work the best
Roger H. Veteran Posted January 2, 2007 Veteran Share Posted January 2, 2007 well: 1,366 x 768 is the native pixel resolution so 1080i (1920 x 1080) will be downscaled to 1280 x 720P and then stretched to fill the screen so might as well use 720p. For gaming anyways 720p is better.
