"Open in a New Window" - I Don't Ever Want It To!

Recommended Posts

Hello!

Now I don't know about you, but I think Microsoft was pretty silly. When clicking on links that have the "new window" reference in their HTML then they do open in a new window, but it means Tabs are not really worth it in Internet Explorer.

Don't get me wrong, I don't use any other browser so I don't know if this is the same in others but I want it to either: Open in a new tab OR somehow let me change the command for "Open in a New Window" to the same command as "open in a new tab" or better still - delete that whole option all together?

Cheers,

Peter

To elaborate a little bit on em_te's screenshot, select the radio button which says "Always open pop-ups in new tab". That, along with the radio button setting it to open links from other programs in new tabs, should give you a new-windowless experience.

I never understood this.

IE7 and Firefox both, I click some image or link, and a new browser opens up. Um, what is there tabs for if your going to open up everything in a new window by default?

You can alter that behavior (force it to open into tabs rather than windows) in both Firefox 2 and IE7.
