notuptome2004
Not all HD channels do that. I have many shows/movies I watch that are recorded using HD cameras and are AMAZING in quality. I will admit that a native HD resolution kills anything that a regular dvd can do (I record music and edit video for a living), but I still prefer keeping my money. Also, the blockbuster/netflix idea is good, and actually I do have an amazing deal that BB doesn't give out anymore, just as long as I don't cancel my account. However there are other reasons why I don't rent them, and those reasons I won't announce online. Unless of course this becomes a little more mainstream i got ya. hey what video editing software do you use Not all HD channels do that. Dysphoria
I know that, and that was never my point to begin with. I can go to Best Buy every week and buy a 4.99 DVD compared to a 24-30 dollar HD-DVD and enjoy some very nice quality. I'd much rather have 5-6 upscaled DVD's than one HD-DVD. If I want to watch HD movies, I'll use my HD DVR from my cable company. I have DISH Network with 20 HD channels and I love it, but comparing to an HD DVD its still not as good. The Cable and Dish Network transmit the channels in 1080i and the compression they use lowers the quality by a bit. You can see more grain on the Cable / Dish HD Channels than on the HD DVDs which are at 1080p native resolution. It might not be a big difference to you but its still noticeable. Meshuggah
Well, to be perfectly honest, I've never watched a HD-DVD movie via my 360 on my TV, so I really have nothing to compare it to. I almost bought the add-on but decided against it, as I wanted the wireless wheel, so I cannot honestly say which one is better. I was only stating which one was a cheaper method for me, and I never once said that I disliked the quality of HD-DVD. notuptome2004: pm me so we can stay on topic :)
neoadorable
the 360 DVD sure beats the PS2 one...that never really played much of anything! it is a solid drive, tho, rest assured.
Xerxes
The 360 DVD drive works really well, it plays most DVDs and the quality is really good (Y) Only problem is it is still noisy playing DVDs, granted it doesn't sound like a jet fighter taking off (like it normally does during game play) but it's no mouse either, still it's an improvement over the Xbox 1 :p but I still prefer my PS2 for console DVD playback as it makes no noise whatsoever. Justin03248
Is VGA a better quality connection than component? I'm just wondering as I currently use component on my 360...
InternalStorm
Is VGA a better quality connection than component? I'm just wondering as I currently use component on my 360... It really depends on the TV and it's quality of connection/output of picture... some people say it's better, while for others Component is the way to go. DrCheese
Is VGA a better quality connection than component? I'm just wondering as I currently use component on my 360... VGA is better for watching DVD's with if you have a HDTV, since it only upscales DVD's to 720p/1080i/p if your using a VGA connection. As for games I'm not sure because I don't have one myself to test with.

Gfunk4life
This is rather odd to hear all this, because I always thought the picture quality on the 360 DVD playback kinda sucked compared to my samsung DVD player. i think some people like me , the xbox360 is a better DVD player then there DVD player
