Thats a good idea actually - it might help lighten the load on staff. In addition to the subscriptions (i would still pay the subscription anyway), having some of the subscribers "hired" and called "support" or something would be a really cool idea.

Although whoever had that job would have to fight off a hell of a lot of noobs ;)

edit: "burden the load - WTF"

Yeah i dont think this would happen though. Extra rights are usually given to people that proove themselves trustworthy and as we know (myself included) just because we are paying does not make us any more trustworthy.

I don't know how Neowin's management operates, but i would think that would be the next step if they did approve gathering of new features for new packages. Right now i think this is just Fred gathering some ideas and trying to see if management is interested. No need to get the masses in arise if nothing is going to happen.

These ideas have been on the table for quite sometime and are under serious consideration. As Fred said we DO need to do it right this time, to avoid the problems of the current subscription package.

In all honesty, without trying to take away the appreciation we have for you guys, through our own faults we actually ended up paying for the subscription group :p (due to the monthly cost of our leased server). I speak for people that actually use the email. At the end of the day we still upheld our end allbeit costly on our part.

It's not our thing to announce stuff we can't come with, so be patient and hopefully all will be resolved come April.

tut, management these days

Luckily for you guys, most of us lot dont use the email ;) but its not right that it should actually cost yous money.

Edit: going back to the list - i dont think you should be able to pay to have your warnings reduced quicker. A warning's a warning, and whether you like it or not, you deserved it, so live with it (well, thats my opinion anyway)

Obviously. As with current staff, this would have to be be on a trusted basis only. The staff here are not stupid, and they know who's trustworthy and not

You would be surprised what a little power can do to some people. I myself feel that i could NOT be trusted with the powers as i would get a little to bossy and power hungry.

I don't feel anything at all. I hear it takes a while to sink in :shifty:

Just thought I'd throw this out there.

Some members (subscribers and non-subscribers) have voiced their concerns regarding IntelliTXT on IRC. Basically, they were interested in a subscriber package that removed IntelliTXT ads from newsposts.

+1. Those advertisements are slow to load, and I find they are much more annoying than banner advertisements/etc.

Yes, intelliTXT ads are extremely slow and annoying. I'd rather have an annoying mosquito buzzing around and just mute my speakers instead of the intelliTXT ads popping up whenever I accidently mouse over the stupid word.

Oh yes... I brought up that mosquito

But seriously... I'd pay more probably for removal of the intelliTXT ads and more recognition. :) Maybe even an ad-free skin, if only to get rid of the security issues that have been popping up due to the embedded ads... :(

+1 for intellitext.

I wouldnt want a totally ad-free skin though (how many ads are there?) but intellitext is just damn annoying (even though it is probably Neowin's biggest earner).
