Best time to play on Live?

Recommended Posts

What's the best time to play when most UK people will be playing? I usually play quite late and always end up in games with all Americans, not that it really bothers me, but I rarely see any UK'ers playing... or maybe they're just not talking?

Also, what time(s) would have the most people in general?

Doesn't X Box Live hook you up with players close by?

Very rarely do I ever play with anyone overseas (I live in America). And usually the people I do play with are in the surrounding states, if not in the one I live in.

Hmm... I don't know. Maybe there's a nationality difference between who plays certain games the most? I remember back with Rainbow Six 3 I always wound up playing against guys from Canada.

Good question. I still do not know myself, but based on my experience I am inclined to say No.

I always thought it was players close by as well, but I think it may be based more on just if the people themselves have good connections or not more than anything else.

The first thing I can share with you is because I have NJ in my name, I find that most people who are also from NJ comment that they are and ask where in NJ I am from. Based on this, if I had to guesstimate, I would say maybe just 10% of the people I have played with on Live are actually also from NJ as well. I say that percentage also padding it slightly higher guessing that there have probably been people who felt the need not to share it, although I can say it seems whenever I encounter a fellow NJ native, they seem more than willing to share the fact just because of my name.

Perhaps it is because I am on the East Coast of the US, but I can also say I find it strange you say you barely play with anyone overseas, as I actually wind up playing with a very decent amount people from the UK and Europe.

If I had to guesstimate how many people I have played with over Live not from the US, I would say it is actually close to 40-50% overall. Seriously that many not from the US. Keep in mind this is based on my entire experience on Live overall, meaning allt he games I have played.

I stress that because for example with GOW, the number drops down to only about 15% of the people I play with are from Overseas.

But then when I played Battlefield Modern Combat there for a few weeks, I almost primarily played with people from the UK?

I also get matched with Canadians a lot as well, which makes sense since they are not that far away to the North.

I actually truly like the diversity of it all and the "worldwide" feel I get from Live itself.

Overall, completely generalizing, I find a very decent amount of people from the UK tend to have a good sense of humor more often than not. I also find Canadians to be very laid back overall. With that said, although many would like to say so, annoying people are not just limited to the US, that is for sure, as I have also run across idiots/annoying players from everywhere in the world without a doubt.

I am defintely interested in hearing how MS claim to match people up on Live if any of our members know officially how it is supposed to work.

I don't know!...

but maybe this one is a bit easier to follow...  :p

Thanks for the reply.

I did not want to name you by name, but you were one of the members I thought that perhaps could shed a little light on it all.

Still reading the article at IGN, very interesting indeed.

One night I was playing at like 2 am EST and my friend and I met a British guy on PGR2...he said he and his friends are always on around that time.

Understanding how XBL matches players is something I have given up

I usually play in the afternoon: I get matches with people from the US, Australia and even Japan.

I rarely get matched with people from European countries.

So it seems it comes down to luck (or something else), with who you get matched with? If it did match with people in your region, I should be put with UK'ers a majority of the time. Like I said, I don't mind playing with people from overseas, but now now and again it'd be nice to game with some people who live in the same country
