The Teej
Basically, a neighbour wants to sell their XBOX off, and I said I'd take it off of their hands for ?40. I already know the games I want for it, and have done for a long time. The other thing I wanna know about is softmodding. Stuff like Homebrew, Emulators, Media Centre Solutions, Linux, Swapping HDDs, if softmodding will cause me to get kicked off of XBOX Live etc. Is there some sort of online resource where I can learn how to do all of this stuff? Also, is there some sort of wireless internet connection solution for the XBOX, and are there any wireless controllers (preferrably microcons or S-Controllers)? I know this is a long shot, but is there any way to use a keyboard and mouse for games (for stuff like FPS)? I mean I'll adapt to the Dual Analogue Solution if need be, but I've generally been a PC FPS Gamer and have also started to use Wii for my FPS fix. I really wanna play the Halo series (Seen as it's supposedly the be all and end all of FPSes) Anyway, I must say I'm really looking forward to owning an XBOX. I've wanted one for at least a year now, but I've been putting it off and off and at ?40 I can't go wrong. It's a steal practically. I plan on getting the following games: Burnout: Revenge BLACK Fable Halo Halo 2 Jade Empire Jet Set Radio: Future Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes/Crusaders Ninja Gaiden: Black Outrun 2006 And of course, XBOX Live. I mean, I'd say I've got a pretty good list of games, but has anybody else got any really good recommendations? And one last question (in this post), if I access my XBOX Live account on one of my friends (or even my own future) XBOX 360, would I be able to use it on my XBOX afterwards? Many, Many Thanks in Advance, and I hope to play you all on XBOX Live soon!
FreqFace
Many, Many Thanks in Advance, and I hope to play you all on XBOX Live soon! Good luck, I think you'll find 90% (78% of statistics are made up on the spot) have migrated to the 360. Xbox Scene is the best place for all your Xboxing needs. But seen as the same servers are used, and the same accounts are used, can't people who play Halo 2 on XBOX 360 play against people who play Halo 2 on the XBOX? DrCheese
yup as far as I know I'm playing against people with a normal xbox in Halo 2 when I play Halo 2 on my 360. There are still many people who have an original xbox
FreqFace
Oh, I thought you just meant Live on the Xbox in general, yeah sorry Halo 2 does, but games like Burnout are not cross platform, and since more people are on 360's, there won't be as many games. For example, I tried Burnout Takedown, and I couldn't find a game at all. Then again, for 40 quid, who's complaining! If you're planning on buying all those games, unless you can get them really cheap (I know some are, I saw Halo 2 for 7.99 in GAME!), then you should try online rentals. The Teej
Yeah, some games are hideously expensive which is why I plan on using play.com and pre-owned sections of game stores to get such titles. And I just used Halo 2 as an example, I wasn't aware it was dependent on the game. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get some online games sometime :p After looking at XBOX Scene, it's thrown me into even more confusion. I've found out about the Ultimate Dashboard Exploit, and while it looks cool, I'm a little disappointed about the lack of XBOX Live support. Then I found out that mainly uses the HDD to do everything. Would it be possible to have 1 HDD where I use the generic MS Dashboard, and then another HDD which uses UDE? Also, Terminology issues have arisen. What's the difference between Evo-X and UDE? I was checking out the article here and I'm slightly confused. Is Evo-X a new dashboard, which you use alongside UDE, or are Evo-X and UDE one of the same thing? Damnit, I know this makes me sound REALLY noobish because you guys are all used to this!
