:: Lyon ::
I'm new to FireFox, and heard of people optimising the speed of it I have an extension called FasterFox and heard that you may get banned from using it, so I toned-down the setting from Turbo charged to Optimised, as some people suggested. Is this better or should I follow bangbang's method at http://www.bangbang023.com/wordpress/archives/227 ?
primexx
Get banned from where? I use this myself. https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?act=...t&id=171767
:: Lyon ::
Well I read somewhere that putting your FasterFox settings to "Turbo Charged" will put restrain to the server and some sites will actually ban you if do that Haven't really tried to find out which sites ban you for doing it and so on, though
primexx
Well I read somewhere that putting your FasterFox settings to "Turbo Charged" will put restrain to the server and some sites will actually ban you if do thatHaven't really tried to find out which sites ban you for doing it and so on, though No they wont. The difference is negligible unless the server's really crap, in which case they shouldent be used to run servers anyways. Plus, you think people will actually go through the trouble to find out exactly how much load each and every single IP address will give them? +Cryton Subscriber² Posted January 9, 2007 Subscriber² Share Posted January 9, 2007 I don't know about banning you, but it is pretty rude to hammer servers that are providing you with content you want. Also, such turbo-charged settings can stop some webpages from fully rendering or cause other strangeness.
IceDogg
I have also read about people being banned from sites for using up excess bandwidth. It's real! But it's been a while since I've read that, so it might be an old problem that has since been fixed. I have never had a problem with any site using Bangbang023's settings. Fasterfox also has some other issues that I've read about, in the security area. It's got to do with the cache. I don't remember exactly what it was though. Maybe do a google on fasterfox + security? But like the banning thing it's been a while since I've read about that too, so maybe it's been fixed. Personally I like to control things myself without extensions when I can. :: Lyon ::
Fair comments.. I read about FasterFox issue as well somewhere, but I think the article/comment was quite old, so I was hoping that they have fixed the problem
