[Unofficial] Lost Planet Discussion

Except this is a Capcom game. :p

Neat swag, DarkGash!

Also, I'm stuck on the boss at the end of Mission 4.

It almost seems like my attacks don't hurt him, and he just keeps blasting me with these exploding Akrid things. Really annoying.

Edit: Nevermind. Just beat him. :p

I meant Capcom.

Dead Rising, Resident Evil, etc. Fixed my post.

And yeah, Mission 4 End Boss was a tough nut to crack.

Playing in Wayne's dad's VS is so much fun! That Green Eye boss battle was tough, but zooming around in that VS is so much fun. Plus, the thing is built like a rock. So much Life on that thing.

What Mission is that? I am about to fire it up soon, left off on Mission 5, so wondering if that is what I have to look forward to?

I don't remember if it's 5 or 6. You'll definitely have something fun to look forward to soon though.

Must be 6. I just finished 5 and did not see it. I then decided to watch some football, but am off to play Mission 6 soon.

Lost Planet is about 10 hours or less long. I heard about it today on the 1upyours podcast.

From how things are shaping up, I think this is going to be my only main gripe with the game, that it is to short.

Then again it might just be the perfect length, as I could see it getting a bit repetitive if drawn out to long.

In a lot of ways this game reminds me of Resident Evil 4. It has en extremely similar formula to it.

I am starting to think it actually may be better than RE4 because the action is just so much more intense.

More often than not, when Capcom makes a good game, they make a great game.

These guys know the importance of pacing just as much, if not better, than any other developer. And they really stick to such a classic gaming formula... mission, mission, boss, mission, mission, mission, mission boss. What I mean is, nothing groundbreaking is being done. It is just executing an already proven formula extremely, extremely well. As a result, I would say Lost Planet is already among my top games for the 360 in regards to providing all around entertaining experience.

Also I feel like I just have to quickly comment on the sound... It is truly among the best I have heard on the 360. Truly immersive and ambient.

That's a very nice-looking faceplate. I wish there were a white GOW one or something, to go better with the 360's white color.

I also wouldn't mind getting Lost Planet if there weren't that lame power/health thing... I know it's not that big of a deal, but I don't like it.

Exactly how I first felt about the game when I played the E3 Demo in May  Also, it's not often a game comes along with this type of setting in the tundra habitat imo - It makes a nice change to the other FPS/TPS's on the market.

I have some work to finish for Monday, and so I can't play as much as I'd like right now. When I finish though I know I'll be hooked :D

That is such a sweet faceplate!!!!

Shame I have mine horizontal.

Are they just stickers over the memory unit ports, how do those bits work on a faceplate?

I'll probably get LP, it looks fantastic, even my mum loves it from the advert and she doesn't like any video games! Is the advert actual in game footage, it's the UK if that matters.

I have mine horizontal also and it still looks awesome, I stood the 360 vertically to show a friend what it looks like.

Lost Planet - Great game, but short as hell. IIRC, I think I clocked in at under five hours for the entire thing, which is, to be honest, bordering on unacceptable for a $60 or $70 game.

Gameplay was great, as were the graphics, but the storyline was not just crappy (which, honestly, I expected), but hard to follow as well. It took them for near damn ever to explain what the Frontier Project even was, much less what was so "bad" about it.

Still, a recommended game for the 360.

What exactly is lame about the power/health thing?

The T-Power thing. It constantly drains and you kill enemies to regain it, I just thought it was kind of annoying. It's not all that big of a deal, I just hated it. To each his own.

but.. the multiplayer makes up for alot of bad things in the singleplayer imo, it's such an addictive online game. :)

I was thinking of picking up this game at lunch today for ?39.99. The CE is 44.99 in stores, but only 39.99 on Amazon.

Is it worth picking up the CE at all? If so, should I just get the CE off Amazon, is is there some store (UK) that is selling them for 39.99 in the high street?

Nah, i wasn't impressed with the collectors edition at all, only plus with it is the steel case but the extras are terrible. If you're a collectors edition ###### like me, then pick it up from amazon as it is the same price.

I been playing the game this weekend and just made it to mission 6, i got owned quite quickly, it felt like the ramped up the difficulty on this mission... or i just fluked my way here :p

yeah but i recon the bonus map is the best one and bloody hell i can't find all the coins/medals on the levels most i have got on 1 level was 6 outa 7 really annoying lol

Does anyone else get really cold when you are playing this game (maybe I haven't payed the heating bill lol)

For those of you with both COD3 and Lost Planet, out of the two, which would you recommend in terms of both MP and SP?

I'd go with Lost Planet COD3 isn't a very big step up from COD2

Saw the commercial for this game a few days ago. I should be picking up an XBox360 in the next week or so when I get a chance, in order to play this game. I'd been waiting for Halo 3, but too many compelling titles are coming out to wait any longer.
