Calum Veteran Posted January 10, 2007 Veteran Share Posted January 10, 2007 Hi. Recently since about 2 weeks ago, everytime I log onto my computer on any user account, an error message appears stating: "pchnotify.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close - We are sorry for any inconvenience" I know that "pchnotify.exe" is something to do with HP (my computer is a HP Pavilion); however I do not know what it is or why it is coming up as an error. Please can somebody tell me why it is coming up and how to sort it out? (I have attached a print screen of the error) Thank you in advance, Calum. k22
first thing i would recommend is using hp software update to see if the error goes away. if not, you'll need to find out what component you should disable from running at logon.

Calum Veteran Posted January 14, 2007 Author Veteran Share Posted January 14, 2007 Thankyou, both miinamd and k22. I tried k22's method and it brought me to HP Support which told me to do exactly what miinamd said. I completed all of the options except the "Search and Rename" ones, because when I searched for "pchnotify" & "pchbutton", I couldn't find anything and it said "Search could not retrieve any results" Is that OK? The error doesn't seem to appear anymore lol. Again, thank you very much, both of you, for your help. I am extremely grateful.
