Xbox 360 controller lights

Recommended Posts

I've only had my xbox 360 since christmas and I've never had a problem. Now when I play games, the controller light will be single (one player) then will start to spin around, then go to single again, then start spinning around again. Does anyone know why?

It means your battery is getting low (I believe it starts doing that when the battery is half dead).

it will generally pause the game, unless you're playing a game that doesn't allow for pausing during play in multiplayer like NHL 07 when you don't have the puck if your battery dies prepare to be scored upon :p

The battery low light pattern is an alternation between the rings of player 1+4 and 2+3, so it's like a criss-cross type thing... not a "circle" pattern.

Maybe you're pressing the sync button at the top? Thats the only time where the lights go around and around.

Come on man, it looks like they're going in a circle though. And considering he's had his 360 since X-mas with no indication of having changed the battery, it's probably the correct assumption that that's what he's talking about. Why would he all of a sudden be pressing the sync button while playing - that's gotta be almost impossible to do.

To answer the OP, no, it won't do anything else when it gets closer to dead except just turn off when it dies, pausing your game.

Press the guide button on the controller to bring up the Xbox guide and in the top right corner of the screen there is a battery icon showing how much battery is left. Nothing is wrong with your Xbox though.

Yeah, you're probably right  But the batteries he must of gotten with his xbox must be pretty crappy if it died out already in 18 days :s

Well like I said, for me anyways, those lights always seem to start flashing when the battery is only half dead, so they probably still have a lot of juice in them. Who knows.

You should get the recharge station because it comes with a rechargeable battery and the charging station. It's a really good value :)

i guess i could see where the charging station would come in handy as i wish i had a it a few times. I sit about 13FT from my TV (and Xbox) so the cable isn't long enough. Normally once i'm in a session and i see the lights start flashing i'll plug it in after i finish and let it charge and just shut off the xbox which will turn off fully once it's done charging. What i found out tho is that i can just plug it into my laptop which is always beside me in the couch or on the cofee table :) play and charge at it's best :)

the only time I've seen the lights flash in a circle while playing was on a couple of occasions where I stood up and walked into a spot where the wireless reception dropped out so it started trying to find & connect to the console again. So, just how far away or how obscured is the X360 console from you & your controller when it happens?
