[HELP] X360 Sharing w/PC...

Recommended Posts

Ok here's the deal I have the sharing setup just fine a couple days ago, I was able to enjoy my music etc. Today I go and try and look through some pics and listen to some tunes and all of a sudden the 360 no longer sees the PC. So what I did was delete my connection on the 360 and tried to re-establish one using the setup. It gets to the "PC Connection" part and says "Failed" so I come to the PC and try to make sure something did not get turned off (Media Player File Sharing) and everything looked exactly the same as it did when it was running. So I went to the www.xbox.com/pcsetup and re-downloaded the software which is now the Zune software and actually has options for the 360. I get it installed and goto the sharing properties and it recognizes my 360 reading the serial # and everything but I still cannot connect to my PC via the 360. I have read all the troubleshooting tips and nothing still works. I even call Xbox Support but the little Indian guy did not know what I was talking about. (Really hate outsourced call centers!) Anyway I thought I would post seeing as I am sure someone has had a similar problems and hopefully can help me.

Thanks in advance guys!

PS: Really sux not being able to listen to your 10+ GB music library

No, I have not touched the router. As far as I know UPnP is working. UPnP is Universal Plug and Play correct?

Just went to the System Configuration and set everything back to default and still no luck! Really aggravating!

I had this problem, goto:

Start -> Run

Enter "services.msc" without ".

Search for UPNP (Universal Plug and Play) Device Host, make sure it is started and enabled. Also, set the Startup Type to Automatic.

Your problem should now be resolved.

Well still no luck... Like I said I have no idea what happened since two nights ago. There must be something that I am missing  When I do the setup thing it says there are no PC's running media sharing software. Really confused about this whole thing. Any other ideas guys? How about you Spartan_X?

When I ran into a similar problem, the only way that I found to fix it was to reformat my harddrive. Sorry for the bad news, but that's the only thing that worked for me.

You might want to try TVersity, and see if that works. It lets you stream DivX files!

What are you running, WMP 11 or WMP 10?

Try this:

I had this same problem with the exact same hardware as you.

First, turn off media sharing in Windows Media Player 11 and exit out of the program.

Go to My Computer, click Tools -> Folder Options, then click the View tab - make sure you check see hidden folders and uncheck hide protected operating system files.

Then go into C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/DRM and delete everything in here.

Go back to Windows Media Player 11 and turn media sharing on, allow your 360, and try again.

If that doesn't work, try taking down any firewalls on your PC. It turns out Windows Live OneCare was blocking my 360 from finding my computer, and it had an option to allow a 360 to connect through without disabling the entire firewall.

Worked for me! :D

Well the problem got worse Internet wouldn't work and many other problems so I just re-formated and everything works great now. Luckily I was able to save my music and pics :D
