TheFlusher
Just got a hdtv, and been looking different stores, and found one to the liking. Here's the question. I already am connected to tv using hdtv connector, but what is the good setting to use in the xbox tv setting? In there, I see widescreen already set, and 480p, 720p, 1080i, or 1080p . which one to use? I think 1080i works, but need your advices. Here's the specs below. Here's the specs: RCA Display Type TFT LCD Screen Size 26" Display Aspect Ratio 16:9 Display Resolution 1366x768 Brightness (cd/m2) 500 Contrast Ratio 600:1 Viewing Angle Horizontal/Vertical 170/170 Response Time 8 ms Adjustable Color Temperature Yes Adjustable Picture Control bright, cont, sharp, color, tint Format Control 4:3, 16:9 Zoom, Cinerama, 16:9 Widescreen Brightness Adjust Yes Comb Filter 3D/YC Reverse 3:2 Pull Down (Film Mode) Yes Noise Reduction Yes
ynnoj
That isn't a 1080 set (I think). 720p.
TheFlusher
How come you figure it is not 1080? I tried 1080i, and it worked while playing a game. or it'd be safer to go with 720p with the specs in the tv?

The max res for your set (1366x768) isn't big enough for 1080. Sure, it'll display it, but you'll see half an image :p

ynnoj
thanks for the tips guys!Anything else you guys would suggest to improve or enchance the experience? I spent a few hours just fine tuning the pitcure settings on the TV to get the best image quality possible. I also lowered the brightness settings in most games (but that's because I use VGA). Roger H. Veteran Posted January 15, 2007 Veteran Share Posted January 15, 2007 your TV is a 720p TV. It will down-convert the 1080i (1920 x 1080) to 720p (1280 x 720) then stretch it to fit the screen you have which is a lil bigger than 720p. No point in setting it to 1080i tho so just leave it on 720 and enjoy :) Welcome to HDTV!!!!
fkid
One suggestion before you make a final decision. Try both 720p and 1080i settings to see if you notice any positive/negative differences. Personally, I stick with 720p because of the progressive aspect of the setting (interlacing is bad for fast motion) and because my television's native resolution and best/preferred setting is 720p and not 1080i/p. You might not notice much of a difference for gaming, but there are some minor negatives when using 1080i on a 720p native HDTV. I suggest use 720p, but try both just for your own personal satisfaction. By "try" I mean play a game for an hour under each setting and try to take notice of still shots or zooms or close-ups etc. Good luck.
Toastyone
I have found 720p to be the best for me, 1080i seems to be a bit more "jaggy"
slysy
Does the TV support VGA? The VGA cable will allow you to use 1360x768 which is closer to the native resolution of your TV than 720p over component.
