Ofcom probes Big Brother 'racism'

lol this debate has morphed radically here. The question being asked now is are we any less racist in India than UK or any other part of the world. There are jokes now. Shipla Shetty was ok with the dog abuse but Paki really ****ed her . A racist (?) joke in itself. Shoba's article in TOI rocks!!

Is this one of the times when had an english or white person said the joke, it would be classed racist, however for a like coloured person to say it, its ok.

Actually, Indians do not like being called Pakistani. Like the Israel/Palestine conflict, India/Pakistan too are in conflict over Kashmir.

It is widely believed world over that terrorism in Indian Kashmir is sponsored by the state on the other side.

So, Indians hate being called Pakistani, and it's not to do with the person's race/religion/region.

Similarly, Indians hate being linked to the middle-east, since the culture, religions, customs, liberal views are a lot different from that of the middle east.

I also hope Goody's professional career isn't affected because of this incident. After all, 'forgive and forget' was a motto of the father of post-independence India.

Also, another reason why Gordon Brown, who was on a business summit, had to intervene, was the fact that India and China are places from which huge populations of students come to study in the UK(Around 25,000 Indian students alone go there each year). Also, the fact that India is the second largest investor in the UK, and Gordon Brown being on a state visit to promote investments, led him to actually 'ask' the British public to show their support for Shilpa.

The controversy is over. Channel 4 is happy with the viewership statistics, Shilpa is happy that she will get a fat pay check, Jade Goody is happy that the PM and the PM-in-waiting of her country and around a quarter of a billion people know her by name now. Who cares about the viewers anyways?

i understand your drift. but think of it this way, If running of the Jew in Borat was made by Arabs, then i'm sure you'd have had an anti-semitic outcry.
