hi does the x360 hdd really increase game performance and load times?

Recommended Posts

topic, thnx :)

currently im debating if i should just get the core bundle, cuz i really dont have the need to voice chat if i play online. as for the hdd, MS marketing pitch say that ohh games will cache themselves on the hdd so u get faster load times, even the game does take advantage of the hdd is the speed increase really that noticeable?

also sure game saves can be stored on the hdd but i think the mem card would do the job fine.

any opinions from u xbox 360 owners? i just dont wanna get the premium bundle and not end up using the extra accessories.

Definitely get the Premium with the Hard Drive. For what you get, that $100 in that bundle goes a long way and is definitely well worth it. I can't imagine using the 360 without a Hard Drive, even if with just a Memory Unit. The fact that you won't be able to download and play demos without the Hard Drive is enough to sell me on it, really.

I can gurantee you that you won't be disappointed if you go for the Premium, but if you opt for the Core then who knows.

You'd be silly not to get the Premium bundle. The wireless pads are great and the HDD is a neat feature, albeit a little small for mass media storage.

The HDD does cache files, and I'm fairly sure I read that this does influence loading times.

You pay what, $100/?70 more for the Premium over Core? Start saving the extra pennies.

are you kidding? It's not even worth it to get to core bundle. Ok so you think a memory card is enough, silly but i'll take your word for it. What about the wireless controller? Oh that's another $50. Maybe the component cables that's $40. So that's already an extra $100 there and you didn't buy a memory card yet which is what you ask? $40. Sure you can use the wired controller that comes with it as well as the composite cable which wont give you HD. But Even if you only bought the memory card you'll still be paying:

299 + 39.99 + taxes = $370

So you're telling me just to save an extra $30 + tax you're gonna loose out on $200 worth of stuff (HD, Wireless Controller, Component Cables) that you'll end up buying oneday too. even if you don't have an HDTV i'm sure you have one that has component input so even then it would still look better.

If you plan to get Xbox Live get premium for sure, you save a lot of money with what it includes then if you were to get the core and buy it all separately!

@SHoTTa35: doesn't the core unit come with a memory card?

Anyway, get the Premium. I don't know why MS even came out with a core system...it is such a rip off.

And you need a headset/microphone to play on XBox Live games. Sure, it will let you in if you don't have them...but many people won't play with others unless they have the headset-microphone.

For a guy like me, who wound up with a free 360 HDD, I'm glad they have a Core edition.

Nope, doesn't come with one. You still have to buy a memory card to save your games.

When i brought mind in September there was no way i was even considering a core system as for ?70 extra i got the HD, Wireless Controller and HDTV cable (even though i nrought a VGA cable instead) which was better value than going to buy a memory card and save what less that ?50 and i cannot download demos or any media content from live. They should have just released the Premium system (for ?240-250) as the core system is a joke at best and doesnt really offer good value at all.

How did you manage to do that?

Training MS offers for people working in specific retail companies. Take some tests, earn points, get free stuff.
