madd-hatter
I live in an apartment which uses a T1 LAN line through-out. My internet connection and buddy's XBox 360 work great but if I try playing anything through XBox live on my original XBox I have latency issues. My roommate said that a 360's broadband outlet is more powerful than the originals but I just want to play! Any advice? (I'm looking to play Halo 2 btw)
DarkGashX
I think that Xbox 1's was a 10Mbit Port and the 360's is 100Mbit but that shouldn't matter at all. During what exactly are you seeing lag (Halo 2 for instance - What game type/location) ?
madd-hatter
All, literally. I can play F.E.A.R. on my friend's 360 lag free. With an original XBox sometimes my friend list lags to come up, then lags to show the users, then lags to show who is on now and not 5 minutes ago. All game types/ all maps lag also. It of course does better with less players (big team is a joke with this.) I just don't know how to fix it. :(

Maybe it's hardware?
Shadrack
It could be bad wiring going to your apartment that is causing network collisions. You say your PC works fine on the connection though? Do you have any online games to try on your PC? Try doing some speed tests from your PC www.speedtest.net and www.dslreports.com. You may also want to ask your buddy with his xbox 360 to bring it over to your pad and see if it performs the same online. Another possibility is that the network is optimized for 100mbps traffic and not for 10mbps traffic. I'm just trying to come up with stuff at this point, as that really doesn't make any sense to me. Do you have a switch/hub/router between your xbox and the "wall outlet?" Have you tried getting a switch/router or plugging your xbox directly into the "wall outlet?" v0ltage789
Have you tired playing halo 2 on the 360?
dragon2611
halo2 always seems to be sensistive to network conditions.
realmccoy
Maybe it is M$ way of pushing you to buy a 360.
Huleboeren
halo2 always seems to be sensistive to network conditions. I thought Halo was supposed to have the best live features. The one game all the other games uses as template? Maybe it is M$ way of pushing you to buy a 360. Anyways, could be a firewall? :s Does xbox1 live and x360 live run on the same port? Live features are good on halo2 doesn't neccecerily mean the netcode is all that brilliant. I just ment halo2 seems more supctiable to lag than a lot of the newer games which persumably have newer more optimized network code. also xbox360 will be more responsive for stuff like buddylists.etc becuase its all handled in the xbox guide which runs constantly unless your playing an orginal xbox game (the thing that comes up when you hit the center button on the controller) where as in an xbox1 game i believe the buddylists/voice comm.etc is dealt with by the game hence why xbox games have to 'sign in' to live and load the friends lists.etc etc where as 360 your on live and your firends list, voice channels.etc are loaded as soon as your gamer profile loads (assuming auto signing to live it switched on)
madd-hatter
His 360 works fine in my room. Halo 2 performs the same on it. I started to think that maybe it was just bungie's servers being lame but I think it is original XBox games because it is the same way with a couple other originals. I play AoE2 on my PC lag free. If so, then this is a poor example to go by because network requirements for a first person shooter on-line is much higher then a real time strategy game online. MGS4-SS
Do some tracerts and pings to a far, far away server (probably a server in Naboo or Tatooine). Post 'em here.
