Emorex
Anyone here use the VGA cable on a 1280x1024 monitor? If so, is it letter boxxed or is it full screen? Thanks, also how does it look? Reviews are saying it is the best, even better than a component TV (non HD). I am thinking of buying a 360 only if the VGA cable will work well (I do not have a TV at school). Ayepecks
Depends on the game a lot of the time. For instance, GOW isn't letterboxed at the moment, but it will be with the next patch because they're going to up the resolution (hard to explain, it's early). I'm considering getting the HD-VGA cables for my LCD TV, just so when I get HD service back home I won't have to constantly be unplugging and re-plugging. Ayepecks
Really? Hmmm, maybe I'm getting it confused with another game then. My fault.
PiracyX
I have the VGA cable and out of 4 of the games i own 3 of them are full screen (GOW -does with patch, Dead or Alive 4, Top Spin 2) Saints Row is the only game that put the displays as letterbox. I run the monitor at 1280x1024.
Shadrack
I swear this question was asked 5 times yesterday... ok, i may be exaggerating, but it has been asked over and over and over again in this forum. My point is: search!

Shadrack
A) A related question was asked onceB) This is a completely different question -- read the topics ;) https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?show...=530399&hl= He asked about the VGA cable...then he asked about 1280x1024. I think I've given the same answer to the question about 10 times now... so, I digress. Maybe there needs to be a FAQ sticky for the xbox 360. Look at these search results for "1280x1024" in this forum: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?act=...te=%2B1280x1024
Ayepecks
Funny thing... I only see you responding to two or three question topics with answers... but, I digress  My point is: yes, it would help to search, but there's no point being a jerk about the matter, especiually when the topics themselves start with different questions. Last time I checked, when you asked the question there was already a topic you could have searched for too ;) But I'm not going to get into a hissy fit about this. I'm just saying give the guy a break.
Emorex
Thanks for the help guys. Also, for people that have tried both letterbox and normal full screen, which do you prefer? Is the letterboxxed view clearer or higher definition? On a side note: I swear this question was asked 5 times yesterday... ok, i may be exaggerating, but it has been asked over and over and over again in this forum. My point is: search! ...what did you accomplish from this posting? Anything? Please think before you post. Thank you!
DarkGashX
Today I picked up a VGA cable. My monitor supports 1080p so I have mine enabled on that. That wont help you obviously but part of your question is: Thanks, also how does it look? Reviews are saying it is the best, even better than a component TV (non HD).YES! It looks better then Component even (HD). Colors are better and it seems a lot sharper. You wont be disappointed. I say pick one up :). (P.S. PAL 50 Games wont work over VGA if your in a PAL Area like myself and VGA is HD :)).component TV (non HD Component is a HD input? Do you mean Composite? golazo
i hate the letterbox on my screen when on 1280 resolution so i just put in on the 1378 resolution or whatever it is so they are all fullscreen, it still looks fine even though its squeezed in a tiny little bit, can't even tell the difference. ienhz
Yeah. You can get 480p through component, which isn't considered HD.
Emorex
One thing I noticed is that my current monitor (18.1" native resolution 1280x1024), when I put it to a resolution like 1280x720 (720p, widescreen) it stretches it. Will it do the same if I try to connect a xbox 360 and the game plays in 720p or will it letterbox is automatically? Also, do you guys prefer full screen or letterboxxed widescreen? Thanks

Emorex
so it will not stretch it even though my monitor stretched my computer if it was a widescreen resolution?
DarkGashX
so it will not stretch it even though my monitor stretched my computer if it was a widescreen resolution? If your monitor is 16:10 it will stretch unless you turn 1:1 off. My Dell 2407 wont allow you to turn off 1:1 in VGA mode :(.
Emorex
hmm....my monitor is 5:4 (1280x1024). So I don't know what to expect. But this is the only screen I have in school, no TV, so I have to get the VGA cable if I wanna play it here...
