morficus
my room mate just got a x360 for christmas, and I'm wondering if the Xbox 360 would mount an external USB harddrive once it's hooked up? if not.. is there a way to stream videos from my desktop (XP SP2) to the 360?? magik
Yes, you can hook up an external USB Hard Drive and watch videos, listen to music, view pictures, etc that are on the USB Drive. You won't be able to use it for Demo downloads and Game saves, however. You can also stream videos from your desktop PC by using Windows Media Player 11 and enabling Media Sharing in there. morficus
woot! tried this today and it worked.. well kind of. Yes, the XBOX 360 does indeed detect the external drive (it needs to be FAT32) Down side... it only read off the music and pictures... not the videos (AVI's and MPEG's). Guess the videos need to be in some proprietary format to read it *shrug* also... can't save to it.. just read oh well, it's better than nothing I guess :p
